Addi Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 http://www.youredm.com/2013/05/23/feed-me-to-quit-djing/Electro House musician and graphical artist Jon Gooch, better known as Feed Me has announced he may no longer be playing DJ sets. In a steady stream of tweets late last night, Feed Me expressed concerns about wavering creativity and a fear of losing his passion. Despite creating the ingenious ”TEETH”, his live set consisting of teeth from his little monster” Feed Me reflects on DJ as “not an art” and that he enjoys creating music and telling stories instead. You can read his tweets below.http://www.youredm.com/2013/05/23/feed-me-to-quit-djing/ Quote I really enjoy playing DJ sets, and it's an honour to be able to call it part of my job. However I've got a pressing feeling that its not......what I'm supposed to be doing. Around Autumn time I intent to stop, at least for a while. What I really love doing is making music, art, telling stories; being creative. I don't want a situation where this becomes a back seat.Seems common to assume writing music means wanting to DJ - I started by accident? It's a fun and enriching social experience but not art.As one of the comments said, as long as he keeps making banging tunes im not too concerned! Always been a favourite producer of mine and I was lucky enough to watch his live set. Very unique style. Quote
GREMM1S Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Quality producer actually, some of the better recent electeo. Quote
SolDios Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Hopefully he still does live sets sometimes though, even if it's all automated through ableton. The teeth stage alone is worth seeing him.I think he will miss it and come back Quote
GREMM1S Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Nah fuck off with Ableton automated sets, either mix or gtfo.I think it's good that Feed Me is admitting that it's separate to producing which is true. Quote
Gandy Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 I personally consider skilled scratching/turtablism and 4 deck mixing (laid back Luke/Carl cox skill level) an art formCommercial club/any club djing I would consider is a just a job, no real art to it as anyone can do it Quote
GREMM1S Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 The non technical sides of deejaying are what makes it an art imo. Quote

WHAT DA FAQ u talking about!!Im also kinda inclined to agree with feedme about the art form of DJing, 2 deck mixing isnt an 'art' form, although this doesn't mean it requires skill.... in the same way being a gun soccer player isnt an art form, yet it still requires skillto me, for it to be an art form, your creating something from nothing, and expressing yourself through this. The only way i can tihnk of this being done in a live setting, would be kinda like how araabmuzik does it, but having said that i dont think i could sit through more than 15mins of one of his sets; too much going on and not enough fluidity (like u would get in a regular DJ set)i respect Feed Me for coming out and saying what he has said. Its good to see proper artists not getting caught up in the hype and losing their own foundations Quote
