Scottie Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 http://www.theage.com.au/entertainment/ ... 2jjkr.htmlI'm currently giving it a listen through now. Up to the fourth or fifth track now, and nothing is stand out quality. I'm pretty sure I've said this elsewhere, but every track is decent at the very least, but any average/good artist could've put out something similar if they wanted to. I listened to this, and thought for the most part if I was listening to Daft Punk. There's a few samples and riffs here and there that really give off their signature vibe, but it doesn't feel like much of a change from what we've already heard. Don't get me wrong, I loved Homework, Discovery etc and it's only a good thing when artists can progress their sound. But again, it's not as if this is anything we haven't heard from someone else. The only tunes I felt like I really enjoyed were Contact and Doin' it Right.TL;DR Was I expecting too much from this, or is it really just a very typical album? I have no positivity towards it at all. PS Pharrell Williams ruined every track he was on. Quote
mattus123 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 to be perfectly honest, i find daft punk to be an over rated duoyes they were pioneers of the genre, but i feel they have been over taken and are given way too much applause and praise than what they deserve (not hating).Kinda feel like they are the EDM equivalent of Hendrix Quote
GREMM1S Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Just had a listen, overwhelmingly meh.Im not the biggest fan if disco either though, if this music was by anybody else nobody would care. Was really hoping for some cool futuristic tron type stuff. Quote
russell Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Was really hoping for some cool futuristic tron type stuff.Tron Legacy is 3 years old so if they made choons like that it wouldn't be very futuristic. I haven't listened to the album yet. Probably won't go out my way to either. Not until at least all the hype has died down. Quote

Cupe Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 How can he produce electronic music if he's deaf?ask beethovenYou want me to ask a dead person that was alive before electronic music was invented this question? Quote
GREMM1S Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Ok going to give my two cents as always.I didn't like it.I can hear the vibe and musical quality in the album, but i'm just not digging it.People are pretty divided on the album, but i think it's pretty important to realise that apart from being ridiculously overhyped, people were not expecting club bangers or anything, but they were expecting dance music.Which really the majority of the album is far more suiting to electronica than actual dance music. So disappointed despite it being some pretty awesome production. Mitch Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Just bought it on CD and had a listen this afternoon. It's quality, enjoyed it as a whole album. Quote
Tomy Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 This album is amazing. I think every one was hoping for discovery 2. i think if you've listened to all there albums in there entirety you'll get this album. If you've only listened to their alive album or just there hits you'll hate it. Quote
Kodiak Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I see this album as very similar to Homework. There was very little in that album that was danceable besides Around the World. It was more an adventure into electronica.Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4 Beta Quote
