NiansaModel
Hey guys!I'm Niansa, a sydney-based model and dancer. I've been wanting to get into Djing for a long time now, and I'm looking at getting my own setup really soon. However, I am all very new to all of this. Any DJs in Sydney who are willing to teach me the basics, show me the ropes? Would be very, VERY much appreciated!!N x

NiansaModel
Mini Meet sounds awesome, but would be good to get chatting to some people on here first who are willing to teach me basics
Cupe
Depends on what you're after and what you want as an end result. What gear do you want to use? What music? What are you ultimately wanting to achieve?
NiansaModel
I want to get a full deck set up (unsure of what brand to go with yet) and to create some really bass-heavy songs. Ultimately? I just want to transform the ideas in my head into music.
Mitch
OK, so you are looking at getting into producing as well as DJing? They are two separate things.DJing = loading up already made music onto decks then mixing multiple songs together using a variety of techniquesProducing (in it's most modern computerised form) = sitting on your computer using virtual instruments to write your own music.Buying decks and learning to mix leads to DJing.Transforming ideas from your head into music leads to producing. It can all be confusing due to the fact most DJs these days produce music as well

Gandy
if thats the case first thing you need to do is decide on what DAW (digital audio workstation) you want to usethe popular ones are:Ableton: http://www.ableton.com/Logic Pro (Mac only): http://www.apple.com/au/logicpro/FL Studio: http://www.image-line.com/documents/flstudio.htmlPro Tools: http://www.avid.com/US/products/family/pro-toolsThe reason im listing the popular ones is that for the most part there will always be easy to find tutorial videos if you get stuck with anythingall of these sites offer a 30 day full feature trial, with the only limitation being you cant save the actual project file, you can however export your work to mp3/wav etc.have a play around with those to see which you feel comfortable with, give or take a few things they are very similar, what you feel is easiest/comfortable to use is the right choice to go with and we have users of ableton, logic pro and FL Studio on these boards who can help out with any questions you might haveyou may also want to check this thread viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8132 in regards to all of these as well
