mattus123 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Hey guysive always been wondering about the accuracy of the key that is displayed on beatport, so i emailed them. I basically asked whether they use software to detect it or if they get the artist to submit the key and bpm along with their track.this is the answer i received:'Hi,Thanks for getting in touch with us. Unfortunately, most BPM and Key detection software is not 100% accurate. We are still refining ours. If you find a track that is marked incorrectly, you can leave a comment here: http://beatport.uservoice.com/forums/12 ... ng-tracks-Please feel free to contact us again if you have any additional questions or concerns.'so by the looks of it that key that is displayed isnt gospeljust thought you boys would be interested to hear this one if you didnt already know Quote
Mitch Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Ye I knew it wasn't fantastically accurate. I don't bother reporting incorrect ones, gives me that edge above other djs who think its the key stated on beatport But srs just cbf reporting Quote
Kodiak Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 I read somewhere a comparison of the major key detectors and it was as accurate as the others. I notice it gives different labels to mixed in key. My latest March Mix exclusively used Traktor's key detection and I had quite long transitions which would be very obvious if keys are out, but it sounds fine to me.Edit: whoops. Thought this was about Traktor's new key detection. My bad. Quote
GREMM1S Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Still looking to find test results but would be pretty safe to assume sticking with MIK is the best way atm. Quote
Hobberz Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 I always check the key on Beatport then see what result I get with MIK just for the sake of it, most of the time the result I get from MIK matches the key Beatport have labelled the track with. Quote
