Duz
GATE ALL THE SNARE THINGS!!!no, but seriously, once you have placed all your snares as you like, gate the absolute fuck out of them. I have a threshold of -10.5db, a hold of 3.19ms and a release of 5.08ms with no floor and a 0ms lookahead on that perticular snare line, but the threshold can be altered to taste..the other way of doing it, is by cutting your snare samples RIGHT down so that they have no tail at all in them, you will be cutting up to 90% of the sample off to get that clicky 'nutty' sound
overit
cheers man,yer i know the gate trick with dnb, and now I know how hard you gate!but is their anything else goin on?It sounds kinda bit-rate reduced or eq'd or sampled from a really old vinyl source or sumthin? Not at all like normal dnb snare would sound which gets more and more clinical as time goes on... more like triphop/experimental electronica would sound... which is refreshing and interesting and suits this tune big. Duz
holy, thought I posted a reply, apparently not..I like to pull samples from all sorts of sources, that particular tune was relatively sample light, with 90% of the samples being drum samples.... A few of them are from dusty old funk/jazz records etc, that snare line however is actually from a nu tone sample pack of all things..download that drum break here (no efx)
