mattus123 Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 jsut got an email saying i can upgrade all my tracks to AIFF for a disowhaleed feewhats your opinions on this? is it worth it for just a club sound system?also.. why the hell do they charge more for a lossless file, the original file is most likely lossless, so extra steps are needed to convert it to mp3... if anything mp3 should be more expensive due to extra steps in creating it Quote
OxyKon Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I personally dot see the point in converting, mp3 works just fine, and the average person won't even notice the difference Quote
eggssell Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 now that they dropped their additional fee id prob get lossless from now on.but yeh i wont be rushing to convert current tracks, id rather spend those funds on new tracks. you know i need my new tracks!!! Quote
russell Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 i would go for it. they charge more as .wav/.aiff takes up more space on their server. Quote
mattus123 Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 they charge more as .wav/.aiff takes up more space on their server.ahhh didnt think of that one Quote
Kodiak Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I got aiff's with my last mix and had every intention of continuing doing so as I can normally tell the difference in lower quality music. But I really cannot tell enough difference between aiff and 320 mp3's. Plus the fact I source a considerable amount of my tunes from freebies from blogs and would have a mix of mp3's and aiff's. I have no problem with getting aiff's but until it become the standard I don't think it is worth it. Quote
Jarred Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I've transitioned to aiff, i only start to notice the difference when i'm using my pa's you just don't get the same drive as i do with my mp3'sPlus i really don't mind spending that extra couple dollars for an uncompressed song Quote

russell Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 it's easy enough to ask someone on soundcloud to send you a lossless format copy. If they know your gonna play the track out then I'm sure most would oblige. Quote
GREMM1S Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Should really get an mp3 and a aiff off beatport of the same track and compare them on a big system. Quote
legunner Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Yeah this doesn't affect me personally I download most my tracks as mp3 because of download times, hd room. Never been able to notice the difference. Quote
