AUSTRALIAN DJ FORUMS

Seriously the forum is so empty. There is only like 10 people who actually read anything and discuss it. Can't the money from the store go into advertising or something. And currently there are 25 users online. That's pathetic! We are a great forum and everything, but where are the users?

The store makes 0 or close to 0 profit.

What you'll find with most smaller, specialist forums like ourselves is that people sign up, ask a couple of questions then leave. I guess it also reflects the current state of DJing in general where you have young guys seeing it as the best thing since sliced bread but their enthusiasm starts to wane after a couple of months, tops.

Um it's the middle of the afternoon on a week day?

They're probably at work.

And there is no money from the store, the merchandise is made for the users, not its capitalist leader (Mitch)

Feel free to run your own advertising campaign/advertise for ADJF/tell users around the world about it.

lol @ capitalist mitch comment. if i see you in a ferrari mitch your stabbed mate

anyways minty, i think things go up and down. i did comment that intros were beginning to dry up which is concerning and we probably need some new blood.

we have discussed getting this forum huge in the past but what you have to remember , this is a forum based site for DJs and Producers to talk shyte. it is not a news site or blog for people to come back and check things regularly; nor is it aimed at the general club punter but rather a subset (i.e. those willing to take up the tools). hence it can only ever be so bigg.

and as our alumni become bigtime we have to accept their visits will reduce. e.g chris, tomy (slop rock), swiss, cairo, street, anderz (who was already bigtime).

of course it has always been the bane of the site, i.e. we need to increase content that would make people want to come back. some suggestions:

people reviewing tracks or albums they buy

people actually providing feedback when people post up tracks or mixes

in depth product reviews

more videos!

EDIT: not random music videos posted at 2 am in the morning, but videos of mixing or producing (speaking of which for those that havent checked out jonny's youtube of him working on a production. do it)

But isn't DJing like getting really popular nowdays?

It might be, but the young breed are all morons who think the only thing on the internet is facebook.

Do you have suggestions to help make the site grow?

Posted

Any suggestions to help the site grow are appreciate it.

New members are always welcome - however we do like to keep it a community site where people care, instead of one full of wankers (won't mention any other dj forums names).

mmmm,

I don't want to raise an old ogre but I reckon if you avoided using words that could be considered prejudiced you may get more female users and users from more diverse/international/ethnic groups.

Not that I want a Politically correct site, being PC is bullshit and we all know it.

I just think some of us could give a little more consideration of how the text looks to new users who don't know us yet.

But really, it's an Australian forum, and the speech on the forum socially reflects that fact

And unless you've already registered, half the stuff you can't even access or see (ie. the entire offtopic section is invisible to guests).

Also girls are stupid

I'll be the first to admit, i dont really comment or review much edm content, when i first joined the forum i had zero interest in most dance music genres but adjf if slowly changing that!

Only a closed minded twat would not see the value of all music (taylor swift excluded)

I think the forum is great, if more users equal the forum continuing on then great, but i'd much rather 10 quality posts a day then dribble in droves.

Obviously most of us know people into our culture, i think we all have a duty to try and introduce quality users to the forum.

ADJF fo lyfe!

This is the way I see this:

ITM: Hundreds of active daily users, 99% Twats

ADJF: 20-30 Active users that treat everyone with respect and actually answer other questions.

Really think we should get some of the members up on the facey page and get more content/questions out there whilst linking to the forum get that interaction happening

Yeah I agree with this essentially, besides us 10 or so hardcore users who are on the forum every single day, most of them only check in from time to time, like you would a 2nd email or some shit, and as for advertising it yourself, go for it, but really the only money that comes into the ADJF is for keeping the forum and the radio going, on my radio show that I do each Saturday I drop the ADJF in there every now and then, mostly shout out the guys always tuned (Mitch, Cupe, Scottie)

I quite like this idea

We've tried a number of approaches through the ADJF Facebook

The most attention we get is when a stupid picture gets posted.

The rest gets ignored - not to mention you can only reach about 10-12% of your member base with any post on a facebook page these days

Posted

Ah yeah very true, was just thinking about any typical troll page's set up with multiple admins posting interesting/funny things could surely drum up more participation on the forums.

Posted

Every now and then we do an internet sweep and sign up to forums and sites and shit and just dump links etc

It's not easy these days, everyone is default ready to ignore everything because of being choked with ads and spam

Posted

No to mention add blocker which I'm pretty sure 99% of the users here would use

Hence blocking the google ads that would generate a tiny income into covering the hosting/radio etc costs

I will try to get my friends onto this forum. Because I actually want it to grow bigger and get more members.

There is only like 1 quality post a day. :fuckdat:

I think one of the most important threads is the upcoming gigs. Perhaps we can make it blog like. Get reviews of artists for upcoming tours. That should bring people to the site.

[edit] Seeing my gig life is extensive, I could also do a write up hungover on a Sunday afternoon. I got a couple of goodies coming up. Pachanga boys, and Jeff Mills. I'll be managing both shows.

That is a highly outrageous statement.

And if you think that's the case, why not simply contribute more yourself?
