Jarred Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 As of lately, i've been extremely tempted to have a warehouse party in my dad's warehouse. It would be strictly invite only, Probs around 30 of my close friends. I have the sound system for it, all i need is a smoke machine, a laser and maybe a couple lights aye? Am i thinking a little out of my mind here or should i give it a go. Anybody else hosted any kind of small gigs? Quote
Mitch Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Never done a warehouse party, however sounds cool. Quote
legunner Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 if you do just keep it really strict invite only, I don't see the problem tbh. Quote
Jarred Posted March 16, 2013 Author Posted March 16, 2013 Never done a warehouse party, however sounds cool.Thats my thoughts, plus an excuse to dj with all my friends if you do just keep it really strict invite only, I don't see the problem tbh.Deffs, i would be to paranoid about all the shit we store there, i plan to lock my ski boat, dads work shit and a couple things out the back. which only really leaves some random shit inside which ain't too bad Quote
GREMM1S Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Just treat it the same way as a house party really Quote

mattus123 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 find a warehouse thats not owned by your dad. ticket it???Profitthe moment you start charging entry, it becomes a completely different ballgame and you need to get insurance and all that jizzim sure if u asked for a donation, that would be a way around itas for the whole warehouse party idea, i know people who have tried them here in syd and they got shut down pretty quickly.might even be worth contacting your local police station about it to see what they say about laws and all that jizz Quote
DJElev8 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Cool idea - u want to figure out who will handle crowd control and that sort of thing.. If you have plenty of hands, people you can put trust into it's worth all the risk because you'll learn heaps about many of the areas a lot of DJs don't know much about. All the best with your endeavour - will be keen to hear how you go! Jarred Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 Headline set ADJF dj'sLive radio sets woo!Haha Nek minitLive Youtube stream.the moment you start charging entry, it becomes a completely different ballgame and you need to get insurance and all that jizzim sure if u asked for a donation, that would be a way around itas for the whole warehouse party idea, i know people who have tried them here in syd and they got shut down pretty quickly.might even be worth contacting your local police station about it to see what they say about laws and all that jizzIndeed, my theory is on the night....if people a willing to give a donation towards it i'll greatly accept it but i won't be asking for cash... starts getting technical then :\One of my mates is will to throw some money towards this night... we're both trying to work out a summer event, where we could get a large area of land and just set up and party haha.Should be pretty sweet in the police area, seeing as its industrial estate and the closet house is 5km away, I can't see how someone to issue a noise complaint at 8pm~2am on a saturday in this area...but ill still be taking this cautiously.Cool idea - u want to figure out who will handle crowd control and that sort of thing.. Well out of the guest list i've roughly built up so far; 25 of the people i know and trust, then there is friends of friends that my friends trust... and thats about as far as i want the list to go, this time round. Thanks man, i'll deffs let everybody know how it all goes... Go pro's everywhere haha But for the meanwhile its all planning Like were can i source 1 if not 2 rgb lasers for a weekend haha Quote
GREMM1S Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Man go rural/bush, less chance of random gatecrashing if there is a bit of travel, more room and freedom to do what you want.If you dont wanna do money say each mate should bring something, some bring beer, some food, lights a table etc or come help you set up. thats what we do for house parties, because the host is putting his house, possessions and neighbor relationships on the line, they shouldn't have to pay for shit as well. Well it's going to be byo anyway but yeah obviously several sets of hands helping me rearrange the warehouse eg. relocate expensive/valuables to 1st floor and block access and move larger items out back and lock up. So far i'm guessing that i'll do a 2hr warm up set, change over to my mate for a 2hr tech/electro set then ill take the midnight to 2am shift and if anybody is still keen keep it going maybe... or stop with the high so that they are wanting more.hmmmm Quote
