GREMM1S Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 I don't think gimmicks are reliable at all, banks on short time attention and nothing long term like quality music will provideAlso disagree with the comedian comparison, same catchphrase = same tracks/sets.A name and identity is obviously necessary to get any degree of big success though. overit Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 hmm,so angus youngs school uniform hasn't proven a memorable and reliable marketing tool for 40/50 years? And Ronald Mcdonald isn't in any way associated with burgers?Lady gagas dress sense doesn't get her press attention? For comedians a catchphrase is branding as much as any gimmick to a DJ. If you think the same catchphrase = same songs then you forget the whole of the rest of the comedians set relies on new jokes as much as a DJs set relies on new songs. The catchphrase is just a part of the branding, the same as a gimmicky box on head, school uniform or whatever.I dont use them. You dont have to use them. I'm just pointing out that they are a fact of the industry, if that is the industry you want to be a part of. Quote
