CD vs iPad Aux Quality

Audio Guru's, i need your input, have done some research but all i have found is people speculating and saying "I think"

320Kps songs burnt onto a CD compared to 320kps songs playing from an Ipad (Gen 1) via Auxiliary cable qaulity?

1 thing i did read that made a little sense was to run the ipad no more than 80-90% volume in case of distortion...thoughts?

:thumright:

Buy a processor! Ve stock = shit! And the aux input will still be outputting on the stock deck output. A dedicated processor will clean up your stock signal. And usually have ipod connection to charge aswell. All of this is irelavent if you aren't adding amps subs and better speakers. Stock system is very limited. Hope that helps

That's what i was thinking, as long as it's a decent aux cord I think

Yeh I wanted to change the head unit but there is only 1 facia kit available and it's $799, and then I would have to buy a double din on top of that :(

Yeh I've got a very high end audio system going in :)

VE is a bitch to work on stereo wise. Still working on mine. But I got a series 2 with iPod connectivity so a bit different in that it doesn't use the iPods amplifier.

Want to know more about how to go about doing this stereo hit me up as I am pretty familiar with it now.

Still got to build a sub box before the Gold Coast meet up.

Have you had any engine noise issues?, that was our biggest headache when I worked at a stereo shop.

Not really engine noise as such (alternator whine) more interference. I ran my speaker wires back along the passenger side next to the main power lines. About to pull the panels out and run wires all around the other side.

I get a hiss/crackles on the front left speaker when the car is running. Without the car running it is fine.

My gear is:

JBL MS-8 processor

Jaycar 4x100 & 1x1000 amps

Hertz HSK165 splits front running active from 4x100 amp

5" Jaycar coax in the rear door

2x10" Fahrenheit 4 ohm dual voice coil subs

We would run the speaker wires over the top of the pass door jam, also be carefull where you pick up your remote power feed for the amps, the power outlet in the centre console is ok, but you may get a turn on pop, and if your running a few amps you will need to put a relay on that feed. I can send yiu a diagram for that if needed.

Peace

thanks guys, im going to burn a CD and use the ipod and see if i can hear the diff, god i hope not, because if the ipad sounds shit i will have to ditch it

system wise im going 2 12" Kicker CompVT's slimline sub enclosures (still about 4 weeks away from hitting Aus though) running off a 900rms watt kicker mono block, JL audio CT2600 splits running off a 250rms watt kicker 2 channel, and mounting the ipad against the dash as a touchscreen

easiest way is to get kicker or amps with line level in conversion so you dont have to fuck around with RCA's on the stock stereo

Nice choice in equipment too! Jaycar amps are solid power and cheap bang for bucks! Although no car audio shop will admit it.

I can start a car audio thread if anybody needs any help or tips?????

My goal was to have a competition spec (SQ) system for minimal outlay (still about $2k there but pretty cheap for what I have). Plus it's a DIY system. Not that I will compete. I just like good sounding tunes.

Make the thread. I'll be there. Been playing with car audio stuff since I had a car.

JL audio also make a mean sub and amp but expensive, if you go to JB and check out the JL c2600 splits, unbelievable clarity, and the power they can take before distorting is ear splitting

The very high end pioneer splits are good, aplines new R and S splits sound great at low volume but distort very early
