Hey guys,

I know I haven't posted in awhile :( sorry peeps been busy, having a baby and working like a dog

A friend of mine has been given creative freedom to organise a Saturday at a certain popular club here on the northern beaches and I was wondering what you think would really do well on a Saturday night, also they are looking to hire a set of CDJ-2000's off anyone :) they are also looking for DJ's

now please don't let this sway your vote! I need to know seriously what gets requested or what organisers are looking for you guys to play, and if anyone is interested they MAY be looking for DJ's to rotate on this Saturday night

1. Don't bother asking me what club unless you are serious about wanting to DJ or hire a set of CDJ-2000's with a decent mixer to them.

2. Please again be honest and don't just choose your favourite genre.

3. please only serious applications for wanting to DJ, I will need demo's etc... unless you are Dflux or Lloydc ;)

I voted other, the sets I normally play these days consist of multiple genres including some current radio hits, old school hits like run dmc, some cheesey ass hip hop like nelly ride wit me or dmx, and they normally create a pretty fun mood in the venue with everyone singing along and having a good time.

On the other hand you have other venues full of pilled up kids off their guts that just want a sick beat to munt out too.

Depends what you guys want in the venue I guess!

PS. I would be interested in DJing at this new venue.

i voted other as well, without knowing what crowd you are expecting commercial club is probably the safest then you might wanna drop into some heavier commercial electro bangers/booties later into the night when everyone is starting to buzz(say from 1am onwards), going to be up to the dj ultimately though what he should be dropping and when to keep the floor, no matter how hard you plan for a night you might get a totally different crowd to what you are expecting, and if the DJ dosent know how to adapt to it you're gonna have a bad time

definatly up too the good dj.

if you tell your dj to 'play house' or 'play electro' that gives them an idea bit can restrict them greatly. as gandy said. some nights will be completely different to others where your 'electro' shiz wont cut it. a when i went to the met in bris over a couple of nights i noticed teh trend of music specifically focused towards commercial house/bangers however one night i went there and there was a stack of blokes occupying the floor who only would get out when the odd dubstep hit was played. main room was pretty empty (it was a thursday) but when those dubstep records came on the place filled up fast. eventually the dj got the hint and he pretty much played dubstep from 1am onwards (til i left).

ive gone other aswell

i think a combination of commercial and good electro tunes is the way to go.

Throwing in the occasional well known dub or dnb track could also go down well, but to make an exclusive night for it could either go awesome, or fail (especially with well established competition from chinese laundry and world bar on wed)... electro and commercial is safer

electro is always a staple for most clubs around aus. there is a lot of cross genre going on now though with trap which is good to see. keep it interesting. could be keen to pop down if the drive isn't too far ;)
