skyblue Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Hey,I just had an idea, I have no clue if it would work of not because im not a computer person as such.I noticed that ADJF has a donation section, im not exactly sure as to where the money goes however im guessing there must be some costs involved in a service like a forum. Anyway to my idea.. would it be possible that through the donation section ADJF could run sort of a monthly raffle, It would be good to entice people to donate! just for an example:If the prize was a pair of $250 headphones, ADJF has over 400 members if each member paid 2.00 for a ticket and some people purchased 2... say 50% that would mean that in one month ADJF could have the ability to generate for that month, the income of 600 tickets sold x $2 a ticket would be $1200.00 minus the $250 headphones is $950 profit for the month.. as ADJF gets more and more members and income the prizes could also increace.. There is no reason why Cdj's, Vinal Packs, Online downloads, Headphones, pretty much anything you could think of to be a prize. If ADJF purchased all items from the one source then perhaps a little advertising on the site next to the prize could bring down the prices a little allowing ADJF to make a little extra profit?Just a thought anyway. It may sound silly to you however it might just work?? Quote
skyblue Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 I think if there was a way you could win some cool new gear for a couple of bucks people would do it?would anyone else purchase a ticket if prizes were involved? Quote
Cupe Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 lol nice idea, but...For starters hardly anyone donates. There is NO way there is enough money generated to have prizes of any type at this stage. At the moment I basically pay all costs for running the site (minus the few donations that have been made, which go straight to monthly hosting costs - thanks to those that donated!).In the future this sort of thing can be revisited, but as it is now there is basically no income generated from ADJF. Quote
skyblue Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 oh well that was sort of the point.. to boost the income. people wont donate now because they feel they get nothing for it... they dont relise that it costs you money to run this site. however if you said to me hey give me $2 and you have a chance to win some headphones ore something small to start off with then I would be like yeah sure why not. As long as its run fair, raffles work! hell the first one could be for $50 worth... hell ill even put up the cash for the first one.. I just think its a pretty good money earner and worth a try. $50 voucher for a dj shop somewhere and make it $1 a ticket... all you need is 50 people to make back the money any extra would be a bonus right?? Cupe Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 There's not enough cashflow to fallback on if a raffle falls through, nahmean? It's actually a very good idea, I'd just need the time and resources to implement it. Quote
skyblue Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 well my offer still stands to pay for the first prize being $50, if you wanna go ahead let me know and ill wire the cash to you. Quote
Cupe Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 well, first things first, finding a system that will run a raffle! Then we can get it rolling Quote
skyblue Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 oh yey!! Im really excited now!! I really hope it is popular! and It brings in cash, pehaps some market reasearch and poll the members on whether they would pay for ticket / donation if prizes were on offer? Then maybe you should approach a dj shop and see if they will work out a deal with you for cheap / cost price shit in trade for some advertisement. but that can come later if it works out. ChevChelios Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I like this idea. I would be entering once I get a debit mastercard thingy. Quote
Cupe Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 yea there's plenty of options i can investigatei just need to find a good piece of raffle software Quote
ChevChelios Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 A small prize to start off with should be like 10 bucks on beatport, or that dj tunes thing. Quote
Cupe Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 On looking into this further, it appears there may be legality issues.. Quote
skyblue Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 Well im donating $50 for the first prize, Caleupe can decide what will entice people to donate / buy a ticket the most. I agree some tracks or something small yet wanted by the forum community. Quote
Cupe Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Ok, I've looked into the legislation, and it looks like it'll be possible. We're just lucky I live in QLD where the rules aren't as strict as other states. Quote
Cupe Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 http://www.olgr.qld.gov.au/industry/gam ... ndex.shtmlOh dear. Looks like ADJF may need to be registered as non profit and shiz Quote
skyblue Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 Really?? even if its run only for its members?? The yacht club i used to be involved in used to run raffles with its members without any issue.. poohow dissapointing! Quote
Cupe Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 did they have an ABN? or were they registered as a non profit org?ADJF will have an ABN eventually (don't need it now) so it still can be a possibility Quote
Cupe Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 i actually think we might be able to do it as long as the thing doesn't go over $2000 Quote
Cupe Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Had a chat with the gaming regulations officeIt can't be done without the proper permits or entity registrationon top of that it would need to meet legislative compliance in every state of Australiait's a no go Quote
