distance from monitors

so just a quick Q.

i got 2 KRK rokit 8's going in front of me, about 1/2 a meter away from my head while trying to produce

cause i know they are near field monitors. what is a good distance to have them at? am i too close, to far away or spot on. curious.

I've always thought of it like an equilateral triangle. So same distance from them as they are from each other. My desk is wide and the speakers at each end so I sit a little closer to them than they are to each other and have them pointed in to me. I am very happy with the sound they produce (M-Audio BX8).

Try running any piece of mastered music through them and try different positions to see what suits best.

So most advice is from what DrC1 initially said. Triangle. Cheers Kent's. Appreciate your input. Makes me adjf smitten. Look forward to doing that tomorrow. Don't think im too far off except monitors pointing in which I got from streets vid.

My speakers are set up a lot further apart then that diagram. They sorta act like headphones with how far apart they are. I was talking to an engineer about it and that's what he suggested. Works pretty well and I'm use to it now

I haven't got stands for mine so when i wanna have a really good listen i have to let the chair go down so that the monitors are ear height hahah
