So I've just confirmed with my cousin who was at the daft punk concert with me back in '07 that the photo with them being supported by justice and chemical brothers originally came out on Facebook on April fools, also reminds me if last year where some punk thought it'd be funny to do it then aswell, guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens when there album comes out, in the mean time, in reliving awesome memories by listening to the alive cd they released of the show

Daft Punk Will Launch Random Access Memories from Rural Town of Wee Waa, Australia... wait, what?

That’s right. Fucking Wee Waa. Not Paris, not New York, not Los Angeles. Wee Waa, Australia, a small town situated in the North West of regional New South Wales with no commercial airport and a population of roughly 2,000.

According to triple j, Daft Punk will hold their “global album launch party” in Wee Waa on May 17th (the same day Random Access Memories releases in Australia), where the album will be streamed live (with accompanying visuals) for the first time “amongst some of the finest sheep and cattle the Western Plains has to offer.”

Confused? So was Shire Mayor Conrad Bolton, who told the Narabri Courier he thought someone was “pulling his leg” when he heard the news.

Details of the launch are all being kept under wraps at the moment, but we do know that Daft Punk will not be performing live at the Wee Waa show. The event’s president Brent Dickinson had this to say:

They just wanted somewhere that was different to what Daft Punk does. They’re known for breaking down barriers and being creative and Wee Waa is uniquely Australian so they just said lets go to Wee Waa. Amazingly our show is on at the same time [as their album release].

inthemix also reports that the domain www.daftpunkweewaa.com was purchased by Sony Australia yesterday, further confirming the destination, which I don’t think anyone can really wrap their head around yet.
