Handbrake

HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded video transcoder, available for MacOS X, Linux and Windows.

The best software I have come across for unzipping/compression. My favourite feature is being able to unzip .exe, great for finding .ini and .dll for printer drivers etc without having to install all the other bloatware that comes with most printer software

MPlayerX

Clean, smooth and simple video player for Mac with lots of codec support. Like this as it cycles through folders automatically and works well on multiple monitors
