GREMM1S Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Great thread!Have always said the best way to find music of a particular sound is through labelssome of my favourites are:ELECTROClub Cartel Recordshttp://www.beatport.com/label/club-cartel-records/21515Local label full of sick electro and melbourne style stuff.Lots of j-trick, jay fresh, tonic etc on herePop Rox Muzikhttp://www.beatport.com/label/pop-rox-muzik/17774A very similar style to Club Cartel, techno, electro and melb shiz, american based from memory.House Of Funhttp://www.beatport.com/label/house-of-fun/22043Sydney based label, run by Starfuckers, easily my favourite club night and djs in Syd!Their label is fairly new but are pumping out some sick electro from all local guys. Here is the reece lowe and joel fletcher remix of Starfucker's big single 'one night'Vamp Musichttp://www.beatport.com/label/vamp-music/17807Lastly another local Sydney label, Vamp Music is run by the company i dj for and support local artists and djs through their releases, they also throw some of the sickest parties.techno and real thrashy electro goodness Quote
GREMM1S Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 TRANCENow for some of my trance faves.Probably the biggest label out there, you can't go past;Armada Musichttp://www.beatport.com/label/armada-music/38Obviously alot of cheese on Armada but still some great stuff, they also have alot of sub labels like Zouk which if full of sick progressive house, Armind which is more pure trance sounds and of course the ASOT sub label which features alot of the artists and tracks on the A State of Trance radio shows and events.Armada's number one track of 2012!Anjunabeatshttp://www.beatport.com/label/anjunabeats/804Above and Beyond's massive trance label, the more airy/commercial groove driven end of trance similar to Armada, but also has some great stuff, for more pure and uplifting trance check out Anjunadeep a sub label of Anjunabeats.Iboga Recordshttp://www.beatport.com/label/iboga-records/919Proably a bit much for some but home to the best of psy trance and goa going around these days.the likes of Ace Ventura and Captain Hook etc on here! Here's a video of psy in action, Liquid Ace dropping a ridiculous psy track. Mitch Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I take no notice of labels. I buy the tunes I like.So you don't look through a label's releases to find new artists / tunes?I find it's a good way to find music you'll like - find an artist you like and hunt through the label, you tend to find other good stuffEDIT: also in the cases that an artist/producer that you like runs a label, their taste of music tends to run through it so you can find gems they have chosen that way too Quote
OxyKon Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Ill find that once I like an artist, ill start going through the labels that he/they are signed to, start from the time the label started and work my way up to today, always thought that's the best way to go Quote
GREMM1S Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Labels is easily the best way to find similar music or music of a particular style, and women are in the I am a fagget making sandwhiches not music Quote
