i am also reserved about upgrading.

i put in for the offer $15 cause its valid till feb 2013 or something.

but since most my computer woes are mainly gone. i think i will sit back and see what ppl say about 8.

don't upgrade until at least service pack 1 for win8 comes out.

This is a fairly major change, bringing a whole new interface into the system, even microsoft are admitting it isn't completely ready. It is simply being launched so they can get in for the christmas sales. Win7 is the most solid Windows OS out right now.

8 seems to be really focused around apps & cloud storage crap. if thats what they mean by "not really ready"

quite likely a BIOS update will fix it.

go directly to the ASUS website, get your exact model and download the bios update from there though.

make sure you do it right coz if you do it wrong (e.g. battery goes flat and no charger plugged in mid way through) you can fuck the motherboard

if yu follow all the asus instructions you will be fine

Ok for anyone else suffering and future sufferers.

the focusrite Scarlett worked instantly.

Pretty much plug and play.

And that was without installing the USB3 drivers at all.
