Mitch
Thought I would make a thread with apps that I use related to music / DJing that some of you may find handy, also you guys may have some that I don't that are cool. All of mine are for iPhone so i'm not sure if they are on android as well or if there is an equivalent, but i'm sure you can hunt around and find something.First up:BPM - Free - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/bpm/id296956954?mt=8fairly straight forward, has a bit 'TAP' button. you tap it to the music and it spits out the bpmMixed In Key DJ tempo - Free - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/dj-temp ... 00139?mt=8Another BPM counter, but it does it by listening to the music instead of you tapping. so not always completely accurate but its pretty goodEDIT: FYI this doesn't do key detection, only BPMDiscovr Music - $1.99 - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/discovr ... 68094?mt=8Type in an artist you like, it spits out a bunch of similar artists, all stemming from the original artist. you tap an artist, and similar artists branch from it, etc.cool for finding new artists to listen to when your digging a particular style. can then go in, view artist details, etc... worth the 2 bucksiMaschine - $5.49 - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/imaschi ... 32594?mt=8Havent used this for any real beatmaking yet, but its fun to use. For people that own an actual maschine / maschine mikro, can start projects then import them to the computer program if you think of something cool when your out and about. can quickly rough out the beat of the ideas you have going, then import it to comp and tweak it.Beatport - Free - ???I used to use this to listen to new shit, but i cant find it on the app store anymore :/ They must have taken it down Mixcloud - Free - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/mixclou ... 06431?mt=8Listen to mixcloud setsSoundcloud - Free - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/soundcl ... 53151?mt=8Listen to soundcloud stuff, check your comments, favs, etc. What i usually use to listen to music when i'm out on the go and not using ipod, constantly listen to fresh materialSoundhound - $7.49 - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/soundho ... 72998?mt=8Hold it in front of a speaker, and tells you name of song. Similar to shazam which i think is cheaper now? They used to be the same price. But this what I use anyway. pretty cool, but definitely doesn't pick everything up. Also there is free versions of both soundhound and shazam you can try, but i think they are limited in the amount of tunes you can run through it and have adds.Jamn - $0.99 - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/jamn-th ... 70606?mt=8Only just got this today and haven't tried it yet, but looks pretty cool. All about extending music theory knowledge. Read more about it and check out the video here: http://www.gregkocis.com/jamn-the-music ... ool-video/Feel free to discuss, and add to my List! Mitch
Ahk thought that might have been the case, when i bought that Shazam could only do 3 songs a month or something, then you had to buy the full one which was the same price as soundhound at the time.Nice pickup, ill have to check it out
russell
It still has some adds when it submits your tags but that's nothing to worry about.

Kodiak
Soundhound is superior to Shazam cause you can sing/hum/whistle a tune into it and it will tell you what it is. Doesn't give a definitive answer when doing this (does for actual music) but my testing it always shows up the song I want in the possibles. Shazam has proven itself for me. Only a few tracks it hasn't found and they're all pretty obscure.

Kodiak
ok... try this track.. this is one that shazam came through with for me. No issues (although come up with Josh Wink, OBX so maybe slightly different mix).... Anything else you want to test??
