Jarred Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 It would have to be to fit in 19" rack unit by the looks of the rails on the side of it! Quote

GREMM1S Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 ^ waddya mean?Sol could have brought anything he wants can't he?lol was how he used to rave on about the denon anytime someone else mentioned a controller. Quote
SolDios Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 the 3000 was the best/still is the best controller of the 2 channel variety. for the bigger ones id probably say the vci 400 ean golden edition. But this new controller looks like all that + more, beats the s4 However it's huge as fuke Quote
SolDios Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Announced for 1.3k at store dj,Not a bad price at all Quote
AlexJ Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 Announced for 1.3k at store dj,Not a bad price at allvery very surprised Quote
CapFive Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 looks like a good unit, i still think however unless you are a serious cue junkie, the DDJ-S1 would be fine, i think this is moving away too much from the original pioneer feel of the old school CDJ, im so glad i have a DDJ-T1, i fear that these are the last of the CDJ controllers.... now all pioneer will do is start to follow in the traktor controller footsteps and move totally away from the layout DJ's have come to love it really is becoming a controllers world if you dont get me then check this outCDJ 2000DDJ-SXDDJ-S1i am kinda annoyed, Pioneer have always been one to really keep their own, this is a little stupid of them, i really hope the traktor equivalent isnt this controller based Quote
Kodiak Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I don't see the big deal? A controller is just a all-in-one CDJ/DJM combo rather than 3 different pieces that do the same job. Both play digital music. Even the higher spec CDJ's are replicating the screen functionality of controllers. As are controller trying to replicate the look and feel of CDJ's. I just don't understand the controller and CDJ debate. Digital v Vinyl I can understand why there would be a difference of opinion.I also be willing to be the S1/T1 will soon not exist. With the Ergo and SX there really is no place left for the S1/T1. Quote
CapFive Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 its just something i have learnt on my DJ life, just sucks that they dont appeal to the hybrid generation like myself who learnt on CDJ's but want to use digital, i just feel so much more comfortable on a DDJ-T1 this seems so forgein to me, and that fine, but later down the track as you said this will be my only option, or i will have to spend over $2000 on a decent CDJ setup, maybe by then i will have warmed up to the new layout lol Quote
Mitch Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 IMO looks alright, if i was going to buy a controller it would be so i can do things that I cant on CDJs, so the almost maschine-looking pads down the bottom would go alright Quote
AlexJ Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 Look, its a great unit for the beginner to intermediate dj because it just has alittle bit of everything. It looks like a solid unit and isnt too expensive. if your going pro you will be buying 1000's/900's/2000's because they are what the clubs will be using. While they could say, 'ill just plug in the controller' we had the disciussion about carrying it around v usbs. i think this unit is great for its purpose. however its purpose is not to replace cdjs. GREMM1S Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 None of the current controllers would last in a club, just dont have the quality of decks. The only way controllers will replace decks is if you can pop your usb in them on the fly like the new cdjs, heaps of djs wont get laptops just to use controllers. overit Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 heaps of djs wont get laptops just to use controllers.I did. benefits are:no more carrying vinyl or CD. search function on software instead of leafing through vinyl/cd collection make sit easier to find tracks. Ability to sort a playlist on the fly so next required song is instantly available and ability to alter/have multiple tested playlists on hand. is more lightweight. Has less set up time. I get four decks on my NS6 for the price of 1 CDJ or 2 technics.Platters not that different to CDJs for scratching/sensitivityNo chance of skipping due to wobbly tables (on vinyl) or due to battered CDsreduced cost of purchasing vinyl/burning CD when broken.ability to record internally, drag recording str8 into digital deck and add overdubs to jam ideas.Because I bought a mac to run my controller I also now have a mac. Cost of mac plus controller was less than 2 CDJs not including mixer.Downside: sound quality is not as good as vinyl. (but is easily equal to CDJ)doesnt have the +rep I get if I turn up with vinylPlatters not as responsive as vinyl.Occasional chance of a crash ( I've been gigging a year and a half with my NS6 and havent had one crash yet, plus my controller works as a standalone mixer so if the worst case-scenario happened I can plug iphone thru an aux in while I reboot, this was tested once when i had plug pulled by accident, worked fine.)SO for me for certain gigs the NS6 has far more pros than cons.If a pair of CDJ 900 or 2000S are in a club I take a USB stick (i also use rekord box)If I'm at home or doing an old skool set I take vinyl or Traktor scratch and use vinyl control.if a club only has cdj 1000s or 800s or has a crappy mixer I take my NS6 anyway. You just choose the tool that suits you for the job. you need to do. GREMM1S Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 there's no war,s'all love Haha just bickering then Quote
russell Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 I just can't get excited in any way when it comes to controllers. Quote
