Hobberz
Hey mate, if you are after a mac you could try the online Apple store. You can pick up a refurbished mac alot cheaper than a brand new one, the refurb units still come sealed in the original packaging and they do have warrenty. SolDios
The referb mac pro's are the bomb! A few of us here (Including me) have them and love them to death!http://store.apple.com/au/product/FD313That one would be perfect, same one I have! Kodiak
Ok.... I have never used a mac. What makes them better? That refurb is $1k but an equivalent specced PC is in the $700 ballpark and that is new. Just want to know what makes them worth the price premium? SolDios
The OS and full alu body. Those bit's are the icing on the cakeAlso it's more of a $500 job in the pc park The big thing with the os is that both, traktor, serato and pretty well everything else are alot more stable on mac. But i have mo experience to refute it. I can't comment on the OS, but the lady I am seeing absolutely loves hers.

I can't comment on the OS, but the lady I am seeing absolutely loves hers.I used PC for years and before Dj'ing I was using my PC for editing photos and always had issues, when I became interested in DJ'ing and started using Traktor and various other music programs I had nothing but trouble. I purchased a mac and honestly everything is so stable and just seems to work hassel free every time. Now I'm not an Apple fanboi but Im happy with making the change to a Mac and I would recommend it to anyone looking at making the change. Mitch
Some people like the stability of the OS, simplicity of use and range of applications relating to multimedia which makes it popular in this industry. However - thread isn't about why apple is better or windows is better. I use both and not biased either way.Your cheapest new mac will either be from a place like JB Hifi or the refurbished models on the apple site. your going to struggle for a new one under 1k though, they don't sell anywhere for less than the retail price very often. If your looking for a new windows laptop you'll score a deal at nearly any store these days as they are all hungry for sales. What software were you looking at using as that plays a part in what your looking for in a laptop (e.g. logic is only on macs, fruity loops is only on windows, ableton is on both). Kodiak
My desktop has zero problems with Traktor. The CPU meter barely moves off idle. But then again my desktop is considerably better than the average laptop.
AlexJ
the only problem i ever get with my pc using traktor is when its been running for 8 hours solid no problems and then overheats coz ive left it on a desk too long..
