So guys, have you ever done themed party's?

I've had a few in the past and always gone with the "Im a worker, not a guest " approach, but do you think that we should do it?

I mean if it's only gona cost $10 - $20 for your outfit (Let's just say pirate), do you spend it? Is it worth it to give the host that extra touch?

Opinions?

IMO it depends on the host and the theme.

As usual with mobile DJing the more you can research your customer the better prepared you can be to supply the service they want.

But if in doubt: I am staff, no more or less important than the lad washing the pots in the I am a fagget...

... then if I get the crowd in the palm of my hand and they are up for it, I boss it anyway :)

I would highly consider it. In many ways the people will look to the DJ for leading their activities and fun. And I think getting involved would be beneficial.

I wouldn't go over the top though. And only if I had the costume on hand. But most general themes would be ok such as 70's, hippy, Halloween etc. any theme that is specialised or very specific to the hosts I probably wouldn't.

Depends on theme, the client and weather or not the costume is going to get in the way.

Eg. iron man mask, altough cool, you can't listen to your headphones and its hard to see. Same goes for claws or baggy jackets that may hit the faders accidentally.

Also, make absolutely sure its okay with the client/s. I went to a white party once in a white t and trackies and even tough the bitch said it was okay on the phone, she gave me a shit review cause I played the music the guests wanted to hear not her (her being the organiser of a footy fund raiser)

I've done it on many occasions but usually after asking the organiser/host.

I've usually done something simple like a Blues Brother (black suit, white shirt and black hat) or Arnie as the Terminator (black jeans, black leather jacket) so at least you look like you're part of the party. Even went to a "Guys as girls/girls as guys" gig at the Uni dresses as a nun (got in the habit :) very simple and easy to work in)

SexKon obviously :teef:

but nah, just ask, you never know the level of dress up until you get there. You might be told its fine, and have a wicked suit that fits right in with the them, get all dressed up, gear u know wont interfear with the job and then you get there and everyone is wearing casual clothing with a simple bowtie round the neck. Then you just look like a twat. no real fault of your own just sucky circumstance.

I always have with me formal attire (a shirt tie and dress pants) as well as a set of casual clothes because you never really know how an event will go down. Ive been to a couple where i have arrived very overdressed (elderly parties etc etc) and been glad to have the option. that being said, nothing worse than arriving under dressed and looking like the 'kid' from round the corner.

If your going to dress up do it right or not all all, because you can always take stuff off, but if u arrive without enough ur screwed. I always say, dress to impress. And if your not impressed by yourself you probably havent done a good enough job
