DJ-Lane Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 What type of music is best to start with? I like the D&B stuff, but also like the Techno?Which is a good one to start off on? Quote
CBG Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 start off what DJing? Man, i don't believe is there is any kind.It just depends on what YOU want to DJ.I don't know how to DJ D&B so I can't help you there.Just try everything. Quote
Cupe Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 man i started on dnb, and basically just get out there and get some wax (or cd's) and just go at it.learn beatmixing and the rest will come Quote
pill Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 a very wise tip someone told me is to start learning (getting your head around cue points, etc) by mixing the same song into itself.perhaps pick something with a long intro/outro before a complicated melody starts.I'd also reccommend grabbing a few pre-mixed cds and mix those into each other, cause most mixtape-cds have 20 or so tracks already at the same tempo.Once you know what to do then you can start beatmatching. It's alot easier than trying to learn how to cue something and beatmatching at the same time. Quote
JonnyB Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 yeah pill, i was told the same thing.i was told to get 2 versions of satisfaction by benny bennasi and practise on thatAlso i think House music would be a good place to start, because it is nice and slow, ussualy has a very prominent kick that you can hear clearly. and they have long intro's and outro's so your not rushed into the transition.
