yizzle
but wouldn't you have an external soundcard anyway?would it matter what was under the hood, moar what was connected to it?
Bonz
gremmy, i use an external interface so it doesnt matter to much. Just used through usb or firewire.ysm, yeah the internal soundcard is void when using the external interface.
GREMM1S
Ah of course, im used to desktops where i buy internal cards.

Mitch
usb 2 is usually more than fast enough for most audio soundcards anyway as they only have usb2 on them

Kodiak
Didn't FireWire die years ago? I have never seen it on a PC. Or is it an Apple only thing?
Mitch
firewire is still very much around, just not as common anymore. more towards professional audio / video market so they dont include it on many consumer models
Bonz
yeah the TI (Texas Instruments) chipset is a pretty popular firewire chipset.but yeah ur right fuddzy, usb2 is the usual!

Bonz
as long as it does what u need it to!i had an inspiron awhile back, pretty good machine
Gandy
the good thing about dell is the service, it can be the best laptop in the world but if for some reason it breaks, and the warranty/customer service is shithouse and takes weeks/months to reply, then you might as well not even have bought itat the end of the day a laptop is going to have similar components for similar prices, give or take a couple hunge. Having the peace of mind that if ti does fuck up dell will be there to fix it, is priceless imo
GREMM1S
Yeah not alot between laptops these days.I choose mainly on battery life and lightness/heat these days.

Mitch
Only problem with that is its only got 1 hdd which is a 256gb solid state. that doesn't go too far when you start installing plugins, samples and deal with large project files etc.
DJ_Raptor
Ok heres another option. Same laptop as above. But it has a 640gb HDD...Approx $1,625 inc

Mitch
^ yah i was thinking the same thing. seems smallish for $1.4knot really expensive for the price coz its an SSD. They are alot more expensive per GB, but alot faster too. they just aren't practical in bonz's situation, unless you got soemthing like an alienware which has 2 hdd bays
yizzle
ah fair enough. but as a curious q, why are they not practical in bonzee's situation?excuse the ignorance aye..
