yizzle
To anyone looking to learn the basics of Ableton; I just watched all of these videos and they're amazing. The videos are broken up into topics that make a lot of sense, and none of them are much longer than ~10 min.nice find mate. helpful to many no doubt
Mitch
Ableton hidden options.txt guide - allows enabling some features/changing some settings that can only be done by modifying this txt filehttp://www.heavyweightbass.net/blog/201 ... izcymw0hwzMy favourite is the show device slots, so you can quickly see all the devices applied to a channel, without having to click on that particular channel

Cee
With Mitch's help and tutelage I am taking baby steps with Ableton. What I have really enjoyed is using the effects like erosion to mess with vst synths and hardware synths can anyone think of any other good plug ins effects like erosion to play with the audio chain. I am trying to create abstract ambient music not bangers. I am just using intro at the moment before I take the plunge and upgrade. Thanks in advance. Cee
Also has anyone done a coarse like this in Ableton wondering if it would be worth it. http://www.aim.edu.au/short-courses-mus ... es/ableton
russell
Point Blank so some good courses. Well worth it. I did an ableton house course with them when I first got into Ableton and it helped a fair bit. If your making ambient style stuff you should play about with the ping pong delay and reverbs. The Corpus and Resonator effects units are good too but not included in the intro version
russell
Phaser and saturator too. They are both in intro
Cee
I think I will do the the course, I am just hoping they will do a intensive weekend course soon as the weeknight course is unfeasible.
Mitch
School of synthesis do some alright courses as well, but they are down in prahran, so it's a bit of a drive for you
Cee
They look good but they are twice the price.I have had a really good Sunday with the program and I am thinking I may be able to teach myself the basics and go for an advanced course in a few months. Today I made some basic loops with the Tr-8 and mixed a spoken word track with an ambient piece. There is also a guy that does private tutoring on the program in my area. Late reply as I only just signed up. Ive done a little live stuff with Ableton and an APC40. If you had a controller with assignable parameters and sample triggers you could have some fun. The name of the game is to formulate a strategy and start simple. Having good gear helps too. What extra stuff are you hoping to introduce with Ableton? I did some trippy ambient stuff once where I drenched the whole master in reverb and used the faders and lowpass filter controls on the APC40 to bring elements of the track in and out. Simple concept, just messing with a looped eight bar progression, worked well.
Mitch
https://www.thecoolbucketshop.com/products/ableton-live-hot-keys-for-all-apple-keyboards available for most other DAWs too. Not real useful for me as I've got most of the shortcuts down already, but may be useful for those learning them
