mattus123 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 http://www.inthemix.com.au/features/534 ... aign=10688found that ^ and thought it was an interesting readi found his comment ' DJs were just playing songs, not playing with the songs'what do you think constitutes as playing 'with' songs?im assuming live mashups and loops Quote
GREMM1S Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Drop some synths over it maybe? For something like a bigger artist where people are there to hear his songs i would agree with it, but essentially most live performances have concrete sets so really that's not practical for a club setting. Quote
eggssell Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 not dropping synths, but yes he does a lot of acapellas over instrumentals. or making a breakdown go for ages by rocking doubles. or just straight out doing long blends. and i think he just saying don't pre-plan and play to the crowd. i.e. play around with what songs you play. (though admittedly he was known to do the same blend at differing shows!)if you can find any of z-trips mixes they are absolutely amazing. still cut that i missed the show last night damn you work! two tours in a row now i have missed. regret kicking in..... eggssell Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 also pretty sure z-trip posted that ages ago? Quote
