Cupe Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 As mentioned on The UGLY Show w/ Mitch & Cupe..The question was spurred from this clip posted in the funny thread by Lurk6r:http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/82661334/What's your opinions of the crowd interacting with the DJ while they are live in the mix? Quote
OxyKon Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 i technically hate it, if they're just chillen in the booth enjoying the tunes and not getting in your face then its ok, but i had 1 bitch at a gig who came into the booth and starts picking my wax out of the case just because she thought they were cool tracks for her bf to MC to, all i could think was bitch im a fucking dj, i know what tracks to play, and cause of what she did, it made my set all the more harder cause i didnt know where my tracks were Quote
GREMM1S Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 End of the day we are there for them, not the other way round.Of course no drunk/attention seeking individual should impact or potentially ruin the entertainment for the crowd as a whole.Djs should interact with the crowd as well its fun and part of the experience, if you dont like talking to any punters or interacting with them then you are in the wrong job. OxyKon Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Depends on what they start doing grenm1s, you wouldn't like it if they start going through your music fuckin up the order Quote
yizzle Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 maybe she actually whispered "why serato? traktor is awesome" = bad reactionThis guy either reacted badly cause- she is a whale- after years on the dj circuit, with ppl doing shit like that or worse.. she got years of built up tension unleashed on her.- he just might be a whale himself? SolDios Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 He shouldn't have really humiliated her like that, but other than that she was way in the wrong1. She put her hands on him2. It was clear he was trying to do something3. Are you even supposed to be up there behind thousands of dollars of equipment in the first place? Quote
russell Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I don't like people talking to me when I'm actually mixing. don't mind in between mixes though. Quote
Hobberz Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I dont mind talking to people but I encounter dickheads every weekend and sometimes you just get over it.I always tell people to fuck off if they try talking or waving their hands around at me while I have headphones on, or when they keep coming up asking for their song and telling me to play it now. crundyy Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 my mate tried speaking to a dj at some club we were at in the city and my mate wasnt being rude or very annoying at all just saying "hows ya night been brother!!" "chuck on somethin we can hakk too bra" ( he was pretty pissed but wasnt rude) and the dj said to him "why dont you just fuck off before i call security mate?" my mate poured a beer over his decks..turned out to be an interesting night Quote

AlexJ Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 someone needs to put up a sign on booth door that says 'will play request for a blowjob. dont want to get on your knees for me, im not gunna return the favour and treat you like a the princess you obviously think you are' Quote
crundyy Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 or the dj's that think theyre the sickest whales and tell people (that are off theyre head) to fuck off because the patron asked for a song (not harming anybody) just need to put up with it and not be a faget or my mate will pour beer on their decks lol Quote
russell Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I never frequent clubs where people can or would expect to request songs so there's no hassles with that kind of thing. Quote

Duz Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 FYI there is a statement from the dude about that. She apparently had been doing it before the video starts, first time he nicely told her to stop, second time he told her to stop, and mentioned that if she does it again, he won't ask her nicely. Third time he was in a layered mix and she grabs his headphone cord, so he flips.Tbh, anyone trying to talk to me while I'm mixing is annoying, not to mention in a live environment. How many of you try to have a convo with your doc when they are listening to your lungs? or how about someone who's on the sportsfield? ever tried having a chat to a boxer in the ring? same deal.... GREMM1S Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Yeah i do hate impatient people who cant wait for a few seconds while you mix, never had people touch my music would lose it if that happened, one of my mate djs punched a dude that touched the deck at carmens once haha was so good secy just grabbed him Quote
mattus123 Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 the only thing ive had is people come up with a song request typed on their phonei just gave them a thumbs up and they walked off happy and it didnt disrupt my set Quote

Got a thumb up and of course it was never played. But oh well Quote
mattus123 Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 haha one guy requested dubstep, i quickly explained that the club doesnt play dubstep, he was happy with thatthe other people 2 who requested, i played both requests Quote
GREMM1S Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Yeah i found what club pretty good aye mattus, bar one drunk chick who was a friends tag along slut lol Quote
Sentinel Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I'm in two minds about this, personally i like just letting the DJ do their thing and trust them to play the right stuff for the crowd when I'm out.. that also means I pick the place I head to. The other side to this is when DJing a polite punter may let me know what direction the mix should go in to get the crowd going. Quote
