Mitch Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Saw a similar setup on a live andy c vid on youtube.Unnecessary Quote
MelodyIlliterate Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Unless completely deaf so beat matching using bass vibrations Quote
GREMM1S Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Only assuming its needed because of how loud the mainspeakers are but still that would kill you Quote
russell Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 It is in a fuckin massive arena right enough.... not as if it's a small club with low ceilings. Quote
SourceRaver Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 My gut feeling is that at low volume these things probably wouldnt even reproduce the music properly unless someone has EQ'ed them separately from the main FOH mix. Quote
GREMM1S Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Generally they are man it's on the technical riders that the booths are run off a separate eqing and amp system to the main rig. Quote
MelodyIlliterate Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Wouldn't in ear monitors resolve this issue ? Quote
GREMM1S Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Nah still need regular monitors man, just i think that amount of speakers is necessary on a big setup else you wont hear the monitors Quote
Hobberz Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I played on a similar kinda setup last night, even with a booth monitor its fucking hard to listen closely when your beatmatching.Thats the boothHere is a picture with the huge speakers (top corners), when you are up in the booth (pictured above) they are pretty much at ear level. Under the stage is also filled with subs. Quote
yizzle Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Crazy show off or necessary? really depends on circumstance i think. was it done for entertainment value or sound quality? take megadeath for eg. its all show. pure entertainment. dummy amps. metal heads love seeing the wall of amp shit.or was it just an excited tech fault ? not considering all fundamentals. hard to tell if i wanted to come across as the devils advocate.. OxyKon Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Don't be mocking Megadeth now, 1 of my all time favorite bands And Dave Mustane has some awesome ryths, Metallica were stupid for kickin him outta the band Quote
