Cheap Beginner monitors?

Hey guys, Anyone know of some good quality,cheap beginner monitors? Not second hand, unless its from the shop itself, Im not looking to buy from anyone on the site!

Depends on your budget. Behringers are cheap and from what I've heard pretty crap. I've heard the truth series aren't bad though. But yeah it depends on budget cause there is a lot out there.

yeh if its just for DJ-ing behringers are good. although if you want plenty of bass make sure you get the larger size as the smaller ones do lack the bass a bit.

Yeah I've been looking at Behringer 300 watt business environment speakers. Yeah I know they sound retarded but im only going to be a bedroom DJ and they are cheap as ass...

what do you define as cheap? you get pretty good monitors around $500, but if you are not into production you can get good results from a decent hifi system.

the behringers are good for the price, and the 8 inch ones give a good kick. you can also look into the new raneg (3030/3031) that have ribbon tweeters, not heard them yet tho.

krk rp5, 6 are around that price, the 8 inch model is up around $800. there's quite a few all around the $500 mark.

If you are in sydney I'd suggest going to dj warehouse, they have plenty of monitors hooked up so you can see what sounds best to you.

if you are looking at 300 watt systems, are you sure you really want monitors?

Im in adelaide and there is knowhere that I know of that is aimed at dj's. The only other speakers in the house are toasted or computer speakers. I define cheap for this to about 300-500.

If you don't want to spend that much then you can always check out those Audioline monitors at JB hifi. They're surprisingly not-terrible for the price.

Alternatively a cheap logitech computer speaker system might not be too bad, I know a few guys that use them for bedroom purposes.
