fair enough. but there's other reasons why people use TSP.
-
I find it harder mixing with older worn out vinyl since it sounds more distorted.
-
what does sync have to do with sorting your music?
-
playing it now

These loser heads you speak of won't last too long. Their interest will soon fade if they lack passion and a genuine sense of accomplishment. Its like typing in cheat codes into video games. Its fun at first but then gets boring real quick.
-
yeah same. i like the new website a lot better than the old.
-
They're limiting the invite codes and releasing 50 each hour. I had to wait for a few minutes before I was allowed to put in my email to receive a code.

I understand where you are coming from with this. Even if you aren't experienced, you're still charging for: 1. Time, including preparation 2. Transport / call out 3. Professionalism & customer service 4. Current equipment hire 5. Future upgrades to make their experience even better I think you're selling yourself short and people will not respect you for it. Both you and your clients will not value your services, making it harder for you to raise the price even when you become more experienced. I made the same mistake when I was your age repairing PC's for peanuts. I enjoyed it back then but hate it now, because people expect too much for too little. You got to take care of yourself, so you can take care of your clients.

It looked like a clearance sale to me. I couldn't find any decent tracks.

Did you buy your 1200's Used or New?

second hand. they look about 10 years old but they work perfectly. -
did you learn with old fashioned vinyl though? its easier to develop lazy habits when you have it easy from the start.
-
you can disable the BPM counter in TSP in the layout configuration.
-
the second thing i noticed was the laptop placed on the tech1200. discraceful.

Its possible to strip the vocals if if you can get your hands on the original and instrumental track versions, with both having similar audio quality. Check this tutorial video out

This is with out a doubt the best dj forum on the internets

I like that this forum is all about quality, not quantity. I find that the larger the community, the asshat percentage & intensity increases. -
I'm going to check back around Christmas time.

This app is awesome! It marks the tracks you've already listened to. Handy if you go through several tracks. It also marks tracks of interest, which are determined using information based on your previous purchases. You can use shortcut keys for play, pause, tracklist navigation and volume control. You can create multiple crates but i'm not sure i'd actually use that feature.

nice find. definitely going to check it out when i get home. rep +

I compared the performance of Traktor with one of my uncompressed tracks and a FLAC copy. My suspicion was incorrect as it turns out that there is no noticeable difference in performance between the two formats. Impressive! I had to convert my tracks into FLAC using Freerip on my windows PC since they have no release for OSX. You have to be careful not to install the toolbar suspiciously packaged with adware during the install. Unfortunately freerip doesn't support FLAC tagging. I tried converting my WAV to mp3 to see if the tag info was automatically retrieved online but had no success. Perhaps another useful tool Windows or Mac users can use is trainspotter. http://www.tspotter.net/ It sources tag info from discogs and artwork from google. It also handles MP3 & FLAC encoding and key detection. Has anybody had experience with trainspotter?

Not really. Any half decent computer can handle it. Yes. And it's Free. I'm not suggesting that a half decent computer can't handle FLAC playback. It still costs CPU, however little. I haven't compared FLAC vs WAV/AIF performance in Traktor myself. But Traktor is CPU intensive, and I imagine there would be some added latency due to on-the-fly FLAC decompression. How much? Who knows. It'd be interesting to test this in practice. I'll go about creating a FLAC copy of one of my tracks and see if there's any noticable performance difference in Traktor.

Converting them to FLAC is a good option to get ID3 tag support and save on HDD space without sacrificing quality. The only cost is CPU during decompression/playback. Does freerip automatically add tag information such as artist, remixer, genre ect... ? I find beat tagger to be a simple one step solution which kills two birds with one stone. No messing around, just drag and drop your tracks into the app and its done in a few seconds.

Thought I might share this information with those of you who download from Beatport in WAV format. I've been looking for a solution that automatically tags my tracks for Traktor without having to convert them into a compressed format. I've found a cool app called Beat Tagger that does the trick. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/beat-tagger/id418773729?mt=12 It essentially converts your WAV tracks downloaded from Beatport into AIF (still lossless) format, then automagically tags and adds artwork to it. It turns out that AIF supports ID3 tagging (I had no idea). I'm not sure how OS & device compatibility is impacted, but it works great on OSX with iTunes and Traktor.

Yeah its a bit steep for dated second hand equipment. For an additional $1000 you can get these brand new with warranty. You can even elect to get the new CDJ900's instead of the 1000's.

A domain name is like a postal address alias. You're essentially paying for registration and the ongoing maintenance of the IT infrastructure that allows it to operate on the internet. Webspace is like a virtual workplace. It contains the IT infrastructure required to store and operate your website. Many companies offer domain name and webspace hosting, so many different companies own it. You can do without a domain name, but people will have to enter your webserver IP to access the website. You can do without external webhosting and host it from home, but you will not have the expensive infrastructure required to efficiently manage more than a few users using your website at once.
