Indeed. Oracle database 10g is able to run on the OSX platform but not 11g. Sqlserver will only ever be available on Windows platforms. I love MAC with OSX as a desktop, but don't really see any advantages it has over Linux or Windows servers.

Maybe you can use the tracks you have, but play them longer. You're only using about 1:30 per track. Quick track changes might be OK for high energy 10 minute mixes. I personally don't think they work well for 45 minute mixes.

Good work mate Hobberz and pundaddy pretty much covered what I was thinking. In the first transition, the incoming track's sudden drop may have worked if the build up to it was longer and more dramatic. Just another suggestion

As part of their submission, perhaps we should require contestants to list the gear they used, or at least automated features which give them a clear advantage. We can then encourage voters to take these advantages into consideration so the decision is ultimately left up to the people. I don't think a predefined vote/point handicap system would be fair.

You also have to take into consideration what database your organisation uses and what platform it runs on. You're probably best getting in a consultant to iron out all the intricate details so they can devise the best possible solution for your requirements. Do it right from the beginning and it'll cost you less in the long run.

I say go for it. Its free after all. (edit) I had ubuntu on a work laptop a couple of years back. Was a bitch to get the Bigpond 3G USB dongle working but everything else worked like a charm.

Keep it up mate Here's one tip...check your channel levels before mixing a track in. On your 1st transition, the incoming track was noticeably quieter than your 1st track.

I wouldn't even consider knowing the current BPM as "cheating". For the purpose of your challenge its fine. I recommend using only your ears during practice though. Its the ultimate way to train your brain.

Why would you sell TSP and buy serato? If you like your cdj's then just stick with them. Midi controllers are good if you are a mobile DJ and want to keep your equipment light & compact. What exactly do you want to achieve?

If they haven't heard how good you are, they need something to judge you by. Having good gear tends to indicate that you value reliability and are more serious about what you do. You can't blame them really.

I totally agree with this. I went to the Xone DB4 demo they had at StoreDJ last thursday night. I had a go on it only for couple of minutes and let me tell you, it truly is a beast. You could have so much fun with this mixer, especially at home experimenting with the limitless possibilities. 3 grand is a hell of a lot to spend on a mixer just for home and most people couldn't justify the expense. But there may be some people with a bit of money who can justify the purchase to get loads of fun out of it. Why not.
