  4. Top Advice lads! Yea i know not to drop bangers, was just trying to work out where the line of 'bangers' is. Looks like ill be spending my day updating my tracks
  5. its at candys, so it gets pretty filthy towards the end of the night im playing 8 - 10:30 so i got quite a while up there, may even have to start with tech house or something (pretty sure club doesnt open till like 9) my main issue is ive never been to a club before about 11, so i have literally no idea what an opening set does/should sound like im guessing those jump smoker tracks will be better saved till around the 930 mark
  6. ahh cheers dude the problem im finding is where he draws the line at 'bangers' would u classify jump smoker remixes too heavy for an opening set?
  7. Hey guys got a fairly large gig that i want to impress at tomorrow night (fri) going to be playing from 8 - 10:30 and have been told to have 'commercial and party tunes' obviously ill play the commercial shit, but was jsut wondering how heavy i CAN go.. can i throw in stuff like 'atom' or 'epic' ?
  8. This question is for the Ableton users out there When importing a sound into simpler, if u make the velocity 100% it gives u full control over the volume of each individual note when on the piano roll, if the velocity is left at 0%, when altering hte volume of the midi notes in the piano roll, nothing happens. I pretty much want to do the same thing but with massive Basically when i make a sound in massive and then plug in the notes on the piano roll the little window down the bottom shows the volume of each note, but if i try and alter it, it doesnt actually do anything to the volume of the note Hope this makes sense Cheers guys
  9. Im assuming ur talking about the part from :30 - 1:00 From what i can hear, the synth is doing most of the work, the actual melody sounds very basic (1 repeated note, or just a quick asscending/descending scale)
  10. Hey guys im selling tickets to this boat cruise. its gonna be an epic night with an awesome all australian line up let me know if you want any tickets also, please do me a favour and see if any of your mates want tickets Cheers lads!
  11. ill be half way to melbourne by then i was thinking of maybe popping in either tue or wed
  12. im guessing half hte club punters didnt know/care who shadow was, and just wanted to hear the latest remix of somebody i used to know and levels
  13. Thats kinda what i figured this thread has definitely confirmed that thanks lads!
  14. I know the normal ones were way too heavy on the bass side of things, but i thought maybe the studio ones were made differently?
  15. Hey guys got a mate selling dre beats studio headphones for 75 bucks (pretty sure they were acquired by illagitimite means, but 100% real) i need some headphones for monitoring as i cant afford good speakers just yet. Do you think these would be any good?
  16. You recall correctly im keen for round 2
  17. similar sort of idea if you want the night to support you, then you need to support for things like future and other big events, its often just to make some cash on the side OR the example that GREMM1S said about the club promoting the event
  18. Unfortuently a club is run like a business, and if your not bringing people to the floor they dont really want to know about you. This does change however, after you've already been playing at that venue for a while. My first gig i played backroom at a club called 'Whaat Club'. I brought a shitload of people and filled teh entire room. The boss mang came up to me and said 'your doing really well, we'll definitely have you back'. I was stoaked, i thought he was saying i was playing really well... looking back at it now, he wasnt refering to my playing at all, he was referring to the packed room cause of all the friends i brought. I suppose to answer your question properly. No you don't HAVE to do all that promotion shit, but it is part of the game, and if you wanna go somewhere you just gotta play the game
  19. Really good idea Ive often thought of making a website that keeps record of all the clubs events/genres/entry fees looks like you guys beat me to it
  20. As everyone has already said, your not going to find anyone for that rate and if you do find someone for that rate.. they will not have the experience/skills you are looking for
  21. without really knowing too much, so someone who has a better idea feel free to jump in and correct me, but i dont think it does. I know when using sites like beatport, by the time the site and label has taken a cut, the artists isnt left with much. Which is where my previous statement was kind of leaning towards. I think the time is comming where productions are used to advertise the artist, and pave the way for them getting paid large sums for gigs. So instead of being able to make a living from royalties, they will have to gig more often. If this is the way it goes, im not quite sure how i feel about it. As a consumer its kind of good in a way, as it means youll see your favourite artists more often. But on the otherhand, its a bit of a kick in the nuts to the music industry
  22. 'I love David Guetta. I think him and Will.i.am are the most instrumental for the EDM scene today.' biggest gee up!
  23. never been a real fan of daft punk, i like there stuff but dont love it having said that... i cant deny them of the credit that they deserve as pioneers of the EDM we listen to today
  24. Really good discussion Always respected Laidback luke as a DJ, and a shit load more now after watching this WTF was with that guy having a winge about not breaking through the scene towards the end
  25. i think i have to disagree on this one no, it doesnt mean money in the bank from royalties but the more of a following the artists have, the more they get paid per gig In response to the OP and after reading the other posts i really dont understand why its singling out laptops, i play with CDs... every song on there could be pirated for all anyone else knows, same with USBs Seems like they are trying to hit 2 birds with one stone and try get rid of laptop DJs while also doing something about piracy
