I havent had my dubstep moment yet i hear everyone rave about how good it is, and as much as i try to get into it i jsut cant i guess im still waiting to hear that one track that will turn me forever...there is always that one track that can change someones mind bout a whole genre, I MUST FIND IT!!!
  3. i cant get my computer to record...im working on it thou
  4. id probably pay the extra $300 for the 850s
  5. haha, i never said underage people were welcome...its still their duty thou the moment i hit 18 i hated all underage people at those events regardless...hoddii, JUMP!
  6. ^This it is the duty of under age people to jump the fence
  7. i agree with MC Stretch i havent heard him MC, but generally all MCs piss me off couldnt imagine an MC going well with van buuren either
  8. Attending!
  9. foolish covered everything pretty much perfectly jsut adding a little something, which you've probs thought of anyway, but ill throw it in jsut in case if your gonna cue ur incomming track somewhere in the middle of the track that doesnt have a solid beat to beatmatch with: use the intro of the song, or some other part that has a good kick to make beatmatching easier, then when your sure the songs r beatmatched, go back and set your cue point and do exactly what foolish said
  10. use your headphones to get the right volume levels before you even start the transition

    TOTD?

  12. mitch's post gave me another idea maybe offer DJ lessons as a prize. Pretty sure DJ Warehouse in melb offers lessons dont they?
  13. I got a couple of points to chuck in 1.I liked the songs chosen (post up a tracklist?) 2.Beatmatching: overall i thought this was acceptable for your first mix. 3. longer transitions: try letting both tracks play for 16 bars or something? 4.Phrase matching: i think this is the next step you should work on. count the beats, drop the incoming song on the start of the phrase... this will also help you with longer/smoother tranisiiotns, as the songs will line up better. (i thought ur 8th transition sounded pretty good, sounded in phrase to me) With phrasing aswell, listen for clues in the song to let you know when the phrase is bout to end. Things like a reverse cymbol or a drum roll are pretty common things that are put at the end of a phrase. SO if you hear sometihng liek that coming along, u can be pretty certian a new phrase is about to start. From the comments you have posted about your own transitions, it seems that your already pretty aware of what you need to improve, which is GOOD!! knowing what u need to fix will help you improve much quicker. Overall though sol i think this was a good effort for your first mix, ofcourse there is room for improvement (there always will be), but this mix could definetly have gone a whole lot worse. solid effort +rep
  14. i recon if u made ur event a bridge to get people playing in a club, thatd be good motivation alot of DJs wanan end up playin in the clubs like the winner of your comp gets the opportunity to play at a club or sometihng like that?
  15. im a fan of systatic sis-static
  16. agreed, drop the DJ sounds way better
  17. cheers for that mitch as for how the files are saved im going to assume there will be a new file for each individual cue point...but that could be wrong aswell what ill probably jsut do is update the cue points every week or so, copy onto the new sd card and when asked if i want to replace the old files, ill just click 'no'
  18. bought an sd adapter the other day yea foolish the SD cards have worked. i havent tried transfering the data between SD cards yet, but i have saved cue points onto the card
  19. im gonna second with foolish this comp started out as just a way to get everyone to post mixes up so that other members can offer advice. I have seen this comp as a more educational thing in which EVERYONE can benefit from, regardless of whether you win the headphones or not. I mean, i dont really mind if i wint the headphones, im doing it for the advice i get from my submitted mix..the headphones jsut gave me motivation to post up a mix sooner rather than later What im trying ot get at, is i tihnk the rules r getting a bit to compicated. i think mix with whatever you feel comfortable with, aslong as at the end of the day you learned something from it, thats what really matters
  20. If thats the only track thast causing problems, u can still enter isnt the rule that you have to use atleast 10 of them? ur still left with 12 songs to mix with
  21. Welcome dude ur english is good

  24. and im glad you did the first time i read it i had NO clue what you were tlakin bout but then i read it the second time and now its crystal clear
  25. haha yea, i had money saved up from working and never had anything to spend it on. so when i decided that i wanted to DJ, i spent it ALL on that set up, with the whole 'buy good, buy once' attitude...kinda think i mighta over done it a bit thou i spose i wont have to worry bout upgrading any time soon thou
