hey guys ive been fiddling round with trying to mix different genres together, and im fidning it is working so well due to significantly different beat progressions or BPM jsut wondering if there are any tips and tricks to doing this would i need to slam the cross fader and do a real quick transition or something like that? on a seperate side question (i dont tihnk its big enough to start a new thread about, but if it is let me know and ill start a new thread).. do u guys write on ur cd's or put labels on them? cause ive heard that writing on them can damage them in the long term

hey guys a mate of mine has asked me to Dj his birthday in a months time (i think its his 21st) he recons there will be around 7- 90 people, and it will be at his house based off what uve heard from my mix, do you recon im good enough to DJ a party? im thinking i should be sweet, seeing as though non of them will know what they're tlakin bout anyway as they will be off their faces opinions?

just hit up something like beatport tracks only cost like $2 which is NOTHING it also means that instead of mass downloding (and gettin like 90% shit) you only download the good stuff id rather a small collection of awesome tracks, than a big collection half filled with unuseable shit

there are a few good videos on youtube that will teach you the basics after uve learnt that i recon its better to teach yourself, develop ur own style etc

i had it in the orange on the mixer, but on the computer i turned down the line-in volume so it was in the green ill have a play around with it for the next one

Yea jaz i had to turn down the mic-in levels on the computer, cause i didnt want it to distort u should have it all in the green shouldnt u?

thanks heaps for the feedback guys yea i was definetly aware that the phrasing was off, like i would miss the point to start bringing in hte next track (was busy beatmatching or something) and it became a 'either drop it in now, or wait another 2 mins for another good place to start fading' situation...maybe i shoulda just waited but yea, defs need to work on the eqing a bit better, and maintaining the level of the mix throughout. ill try get a mix up in a couple of weeks.. compare some progress thanks guys!

ive got 1000s and can vouch for them but yea mitch is right, if u can get ur hands on 850's instead go for that as for small platter vs big platter, ive used a small platter on a mates denons before, and it jsut felt WEIRD big platter > small platter hands down i recon jsut did a quick ebay search, and it looks like ur not gonna get 850s much cheaper than 1700 (which blows ur budget without even tihnking bout the mixer) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DJM800-CDJ10 ... 3a6a45976c i did see that though, itll obviously go up, but itd be worth having a crack at that
