  1. hey sol ive asked this question to people many times and basically got the same answer each time there is no right or wrong way, its all personal preference ive been told that 1 track per cd + remixes is the best way to go, but i cant bring myself to doing that so i set up CDs with 5 tracks per CD based on similar genre, so far im finding that this works fine
  2. ahh yea i see the problem there i know you said serato is too expensive, but you could save up the cash for it within a few weeks couldnt u? i wouldnt sell the techies.. not yet anyway
  3. i would personally go CDJ, but using a controller still has its advantages as for playing in a club, i have seen an increase in DJs using controllers, however most still use CDJs as for your mate saying 'only look at pioneer'. i'd say also look at denon (or reloop as awseome88 said), i have mates who use denon and have no complaints. all CDJs have a very similar layout, so you wont have any problem transitioning into club if you use these decks
  4. forgive me if i am way off.. i assumed you could mix? or am i reading that wrong?
  5. evaider, whats your budget? do you need speakers aswell? the more detialed you are with your requirements, the better answer everyone here will be able to give u also..welcome to ADJF!!
  6. another thing worth double checking is to make sure that the cue starts on beat i dont know how vinyl works, cause i havent had the pleasure of using it There have been a couple of times where i have had to reset a cue cause its start slightly off beat. the way i count is normally sometihng liek 1 2 3 4, 2 2 3 4, 3 2 3 4, 4 2 3 4 etc i rarely need to coutn that far as i can normally tell when the start of a new phrase is about to start. i find tapping on the decks (atleast a bar before dropping the track) in time to the music helps, so when it comes to dropping in hte track, my finger is hitting hte decks in time with the song.
  7. jsut been searching back through the posts for some trance mixes, so appologies for reviving this year old thread but loved the mix.. thought u should knwo =D
  8. i agree with jaz maybe buy some cheap CDJs OR!! i would save up and buy serato. i am yet to hear of one person say they prefer the feel of CDJs over vinyl
  9. welcome mate looks like you've got a bit of experience behind you
  10. set me back a whole $30
  11. apparently to get aroudn that problem u jsut need to leave a few seconds of no sound and hten start the mix cant copyright nothing
  12. yea i was considering slowly building up the tempo i was also thinking of lets say im mixing trance into electro.. i could slow down the trance to the 128 mark and jsut before the song drops hit the 'tempo reset' which will instantly bring it back to its regular BPM (around 144) do you recon this might throw off the audience with the sudden increase in BPM?
  13. cheers for that foolish it is possible that its the dodgey speaker connection. my set up is cdj1000 (pretty certain its not them). xone:22 and im using computer speakers as speakers. the computer speakers are connected using a device like that RCA to some 'RCA to computer speaker' adapter ill record the next time i mix, see if i can rule out some issues
  14. ahh dammit! i thought i was being a useful contributor to the forum
  15. yea i ruled out the song when it spiked i made note of where it spiked... when i rewound the track, it would spike in a different position sometimes the volume would drop aswell
  16. hey guys so ive noticed it a while ago but thought it was my fault cause i might have accidentally bumped the volume faders or cross fader, but this time i was just playing a song out while i was sitting at the computer, and the volume randomly dropped, then randomly jumped back up again. has this ever happened to any of you, or do any of you know what could cause/ solve this it really ruins the mix when everything is at one volume and then all of a sudden it spikes really high/ low any help would be great. cheers guys
  17. Hey guys, stumbled accross this vid from good ol ellaskins while finding tutorials on scratching long story short, this guy is offering a discount if u mention 'ellaskins promo' could be worth looking at
  18. only watched that one vid, but his attitude gives me the shits im with jaz. i would like him better if he wasnt so cocky edit: youtubed him some more, i no longer thinkg he's up himself
  19. makes perfect sense thats kind of what i was thinking, so you've kinda jsut confirmed my own thoughts now i jsut gotta learn how to use hte programm, i forsee alot of frustrating nights
  20. Hey guys me and a mate are looking at producing i just wanted to get your opinion on whats easier to do... make an original track or remix something cheers guys
  21. so if i remixed a song, technically i should be calling it a bootleg.. is that correct?
  22. yea got people to chip in before hand i recon aslong as its not paying at the door to get in type of tihng, i recon u could act dumb if it turns to shit
  23. had to google round to find it http://soundcloud.com/takohandz/gotye-s ... -i-used-to ended up finding it on that guys soundcloud.. i noticed you commented on it, so i assume you're aware he's uploaded it either way GREAT remix
  24. isnt there some rule about 'as soon as u charge for entry, you need all sorts of insurance and permits and stuff?' would it be worth calling the council and asking some questions?
  25. totally forgot to run a search before i posted this thread, sorry but solid advice all-round. thanks guys
