  1. I always use keylock :S why shouldnt you use it? the main reason i use it, is because if the beats are slipping whilst in the mix ill nudge the platter to keep it in beat. If keylock is off, u can hear the nudge of the platter (it sounds as if u were spining a vinyl on a turntable) with the keylock is off you dont hear any differences in the sound
  2. i just got sent to my own facebook wall....
  3. ^ thats what i was hoping this thread would be able to help people with but no one has really posted up any contacts maybe call up your local DJ store and see what they recommend
  4. good mix dude everyone near me liked it aswell
  5. yea i was thinking of doing it my self anditz, seeing as thou it just required a basic clean i looked it up on youtube and saw what was actually inside the CDJ.. i got too scared
  6. solid contribution jaz
  7. so after having a very pleasant experience with my repair man, i was thinking it would be a good idea for everyone to write up places that they have had gear repaired that they reccommend maybe turn it into a list that people can refer to if they need some gear fixed ill go first NSW George Trevor - 0411 336 947 he does a really good job, and does it for a fair price he does all the repairs for DJ warehouse... so you know he's gotta be good

    TOTD?

  9. Pioneer need to develop a key slide so u can change the key of a song without altering the tempo that shit would be badass!
  10. if they arent actually mixing.... i cant
  11. i remember hearing somewhere that van buuren was saying that shifting a song up/down 4% changes the key by a semitone (that could be wrong, but its something like that) some CDJs have a keylock feature which will hold the song in the original key no matter how much u change the tempo in your example if u inreased the tempo of track 2 to match track 1, it may not necessarily turn into a D, it may end up as a C#
  12. thanks for the advice guys i ended up missing out on the deal anyway so i think ill try my hand at production before i start spending money on it
  13. Hey guys i havent started production yet, but i am looking into starting it http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/smallfi ... s_id=36110 im thinking of buying that, but before i do i just wanted to know how many of you producers actually use midi keyboards, and do you think i will need one as im only just starting? also, it says runs on windows 32 bit and mac... does that mean it wont run on 64bit cheers guys
  14. haha whoops i checked the 'production' to see if was there, didnt check buy and sell i guess the more who see it the better
  15. Hey dudes/ dudettes for tonight only catch of the day has some discounted audio gear, could be worth looking at http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/ im sure most of you already know about it, but for anyone who doesnt do yourself a favor and have a look
  16. welcomo
  17. it should read 'Havana Brown, the Aussie David Guetta?' never underestimate the power of the comma
  18. fuark lloydc you got eyes like a hawk, good spotting ive been told that mr guetta is a really good DJ as in terms of mixing behind the decks by people who seen him (granted thats by people who know next to nothing bout DJing), and he's jsut been voted #1 DJ on that DJmag.com site, so he can't be THAT bad on a sperate note.. is it just me, or is there there something hot about a set of decks infront of a chick
  19. someone on this forum said they try and limit them selves to using 1-2 effects per hour thast probably not a bad idea
  20. hey man just had a quick listen at the first 5 mins its like 3am so im a little tired but from what ive heard so far... too many effects seeing as though ur learning to mix, try an refrain from using too many effects and focus on making the mix sound good purely with clean transitions and good track selection second quick thing, try and minimize the places that have no sound if u can, (unless of course you are doing it on purpose and follow it up with a banger) example. at about 4:52 as soon as 'changed teh way u kissed me' finished, try dropping the next song in straight away while quickly fading out 'change the way...'. Theres no need for you to fade in the incoming song if there is only silence in the back ground hope that offers a little bit of guidance, keep it up though dude keep posting mixes and gettin feedback, best way to learn ill give it another proper listen tomorrow when im not falling asleep on the keyboard
  21. cheers for the feedback guys
