all i have on my mixer is a hi/low pass filter i remember someone saying on this forum a while back that they try and limit effects to 1 every hour, i reckon thats probably a pretty good rule of thumb i often save my filters for when i need them to save my ass. Sometimes ill make a transition that isnt going as smooth as i had hoped and ill use the filter to get me out of it quickly and save my balls.

Another one of my friends, what do you think?
mattus123 replied to SolDios's topic in DJ Headquarters
completely agree with fudds too much fucking around with the bass eq, kinda ruined the songs for me, id much rather hear the song played straight through, theres no need to keep killing the bass like he did -
HAHAHAHA irl lol but in all seriousness, i agree with the others, ditch the little mixer as for what DJ Armed said, maybe have equipment in the background but change the focus so that its blured and ur the focus. or maybe leaning against a speaker or something? also, a bit more info on the website might be nice

contemplated the idea of DJing for months before i bought anything looked around for MONTHS trying to find the perfect set up for me ended up with 2 ex rental CDJ1000 mk3, A&H xone:22, hd25 headphones love my setup, sometimes when im nailing my missus, i think about my equipment
-
SUCH a baws! good/quick thinking
-
i think (keyword: think) with a 10 min mix, u just want it to be banger banger banger banger not too long of build ups etc
-
This was the song that slowly took me away from the top 40 and rap (back in primary school days) and into the heavier stuff still love to listen to a bit of metallica every now and then

yea ive had mates tell me it was defiently fucked took it to an electrical engineer.. $70 later everything is working like new on the second time round, i opened it up myself and cleaned/dried it myself ive worked on a theory though, it could be wrong as im no electrical engineer.. it could also be very obvious and ive only just worked it out when drinks spills on the equipment, it seeps into it and onto the circuit board, the liquid drops (electrical conductors), however few there are, screw up the circuit board by providing the electrical signal alternate routes through the circuit board (circuit boards are consisted of millions of 'open/closed' switches (transistors). So as long as there is water drops on the circuit board the electrical signal will continue to go the wrong way and hte equipment wont work. SOOO in conclusion, if u can dry up the water in theory it will allow the electrical signal to flow through the circuit board in the way it was designed to. for drinks that leave a residue (anything except for water) it will be important to get that cleaned as apparently the residue will slowly rot the circuit board causing permanent damage (even if it appears there is no immediate issue with the equipment) hope this helps anyone.. i also hope its 100% correct

knife party isnt pendulum knife party are two members from pendulum, which makes sense to me that they use a different name as for using a different name for differnet genres, i think its personal preference.,. personally, i dont actually think its that bad of an idea
-
HOLY SHIT!!!! i did the EXACT same thing!!!! went down extremely well
-
im more inclined to agree with Gandy, there is a noticeable differnet between good and bad headphones but cupe and imadje have been DJing much longer than i have if your only doing house parties, i would make sure there is good sound - isolation if your really set on keeping the budget low... maybe you could try using ear-buds and put ear muffs over the top for better sound isolation

Just had my best gig so far Ended up Djing a mates house party for NYE at last minute got a call up at 12:30 that day that the party was a go ahead.. quickly rushed over to DJ Warehouse to hire the speakers Set up around 7 (made a barricade around me with chairs) and sunk lots of beers and started collecting money for speaker hire Started playing around 9, and had the floor pumping the whole time... We ended up having all the neighbours crash the party and join ours. had a full dance floor the entire night, shit was getting intense, the whoel house was pretty much shaking that many people were dancing, piano almost fell over purely from vibrations on the floor when it hit mid night, dropped my countdown mix into levels and it went completely off. All in all it was an awesome night, had gate crashers congratulating me throughout the entire night and nothing got broken! one guy was trying to give me his drink, and i pushed him the fuck away, bit of drink spilt on the decks but i literally sucked it out before it seeped in through he buttons... nothing was broken so FUCK YEA.. good start to 2012

Keeping people away and yourself safe! (I need help)
mattus123 replied to SolDios's topic in DJ Headquarters
at the moment ive been jsut doign friends parties last gig i did i set up chairs infront of the decks, just to stop people dancing too close to the decks i didnt have a problem with people coming up to me as most were friends wanting to chat (i monitored if they were holding a drink)... not 100% sure if this post is going to be helpful or not... hopefully it is -
im with the others once u start using sync itll be too easy to bother with beatmatching and ull enjoy the feeling of mixing beatmatched tracks too much to then go backwards and learn how to beatmatch stick at the beatmatching sol.. itll be worth it when u get there keep in mind ur still young, theres no need to rush it do it the right way, even if it means itll take a little bit longer... in the long run you'll be much better off SMILEY FACE!
