  1. i think its fair that clubs charge for entry i know in some clubs (and i wouldnt be surprised if this is for all of them), but the cover charge pays for staff (bar/security etc) and DJs. the bar is pretty much profit
  2. that was pretty much the point i was trying to make A greatly produced album it is... but it would not have done aswell as it did if someone else had created it
  3. i would also like an invite to this!!
  4. im inclined to agree with Cupe on this... media just taking a small section of a large conversation, and then exaggerating it and making something seem that its not but at the same time, i think Tiesto really has hit the nail on the head with this one. Whether you think the ablum is good or not is almost irrelevant... people will say that they like it, just because who produced it. i can almost garantee that if that album was released under a different 'no name' local DJ, it would not get the applause that it did. Tiesto makes reference to Daft Punk and their new album, but it really happens with all big name artists and their tracks just the way to the world works..... unforutnetly
  5. my thoughts are pretty similar there is nothing too groundbreaking with this line up... having said that, ill be spending my moneys on it. fair few acts ive never heard of, so will be good to check out some people that i dont actually know
  6. I agree with this ^ u cannot take the crowd on a journey with a 1 hour set as mitch said, the reason it is done is so that the DJs bring more people to the club. Only when the club worries more about music rather than the numbers through the door will this change. im not holding my breathe
  7. true but i know that if something becomes common phrase, u cant hold trademark rights of it eg. the 'esky'... esky is the brandname, but now days people refer to the invention as an 'esky'. As a result, the brand esky lost trademark rights to 'esky' another example is the escalator surely its a similar case with Will.I.Am?
  8. surely this cant even go through 'i am' is a common phrase, will.i.am didnt create it
  9. ATTENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. swing me a text or hit me up on good ol facey if u and ur mates are actually keen on buying tickets
  11. your not incorrect the music is also fuckign awesome... if that interests u at all? in all seriouness though mang, let me know if u (or any of ur mates) want a ticket. Me and Gremm1s will be there. would be good to see ur head out again
  12. Yeah same boat and everything. Except better
  13. Hey doods Vamp has once again produced an epic line up for what is sure to be another awesome night out on the harbor. The last cruise was absolutely insane, and i have been told the production that is going into this one is going to be even bigger. It also happens to fall on my Bday, so for any of my ADJF brethren who wanna party with me, i shall see u there!! Im selling hardcopy tickets, so hit me up if your interested \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/
  14. exactly^ but even over here 'becoming a pop star, super star DJ' is not something that you can just do with the click of your fingers
  15. i cant tell if its a joke or not surely it is
  16. cant say i know those guys just go in with a varirety of tracks so that u can adapt to what u need to play and if in doubt play lighter as opposed to heavier imo there is nothing worse than the next DJ having to jump on the decks to a peaking crowd when they should still be warming up
  17. im inclined to think this is a fake... or super new ive had a look at the tracks that are for sale, and there is nothing there im praying that its just a fake
  18. what are the later acts of the night are, if your the first person playing id probs skip the whole normal tech/deep opening songs, ive never been to laundry that early though tbh so i cant really say, it does vary from club to club. If it is going to peak at dub though, i would say ur probs safe to play a little electro, not too banging though
  19. That VDJ stuff looks cool, would be interested to see more of that!! as for entering the comp i think it depends on how much you rely on the software to DJ, if you find yourself needing to look at the screen to get things beatmatched then I would suggest practice mixing without looking at the screen before jumping on CDJs at a comp In terms of mixing technique, i recon it all sounds pretty sweet, but would suggest to try and make the transitions a little bit longer, so its smoother and less rushed. With the tracks ur mixing i know there isnt always much of an instrumental intro (or any part in the song), so you may need to experiment. This would involve setting a 4/8/16 bar loop that has no/minimal vocals and mix that into the other song, when the other song is faded out end the loop and let the song play as normal I think track selection is fine for the type of thing your going for though aswell
  20. This ^ go with Deakz If you think of something better later on, u can change it then (Y) as for jack'd, i recon its a cool name but sounds too similar to uberjak'd, who as u probably know is already a very well established aussie DJ
  21. i was more referring to myself being a brohammer!
  22. haha this is great! Im all of those people at the same time
  23. New tunes is THE answer Nothing will get u more motivated than buying a bunch of tracks that get you going
  24. ^true, i was more referring to previous comments as opposed to Skreams actual words in regards to OP, i have no objection to any artist wanting to change up their game. At the end of the day, we are just fans and an audience to someone elses work.. we shouldnt govern what they do
