I have a rough set list but play to what the crowd react to. Have a start song and a great big finisher, but just build up to there.

the last duo gig i did a few weeks ago, mymate was mixing and i was using my da scratch pad to drop in sound effects loops vocals and extra drum kicks heaps of fun Thats what i am kinda keen to do. organise a whole heap of samples and beats in to ableton and drop then during a set. Had a girl sing with me once over the top of beats. That was pretty kool.

Ive been looking for a partner recentley. love the idea of one guy mixing and the other sampling and doing stuff like that.

Hey, Just did a gig with the DJM 800. If you dont use ROLL yet get a lesson on it. Its an unreal feature. But i dont use fader starts and that kinda stuff.

They work with out the cdp file. Found out thats for the 2nd track. New found love for Serato though!!

Hey, I will be doing a gig tonight and i have to use Serato. I just downloaded the timecode cd .wav file and saw taht there was a .cdp file as well. Is this file crucial or can i just burn the wav file to cd and play along that way?? Any help??

Get the $250 one. Those entecs are good little units. We use them at work a fair bit. Great for doing a lot of presets. Look to use MagicQ software with it as well

I use mp3xclusive. Its based in Poland so theres no licensing laws. Bout 15c a song.

How do we get the tracks?

THe hardest thing is saving those classics for the last 20mins of your set so finish with the whole crew dancing.

You can do all that with skype. I have done something similar for conferences. Just come out of the mains in your mixer to the line in on a computer. Make sure you Skpye settings are set to take line as the mic. Do a test first as you may come in really hot (really loud) and distort the crap outta ya mates gear. To hear you friends set, just come out of the Headphones into a spare channel on your mixer Easy as that.

Pre mix a small set..give people a flavour of waht they can expect at teh party. If you can use it as the soundtrack for a small video thats really cool. Similar to what they do for good vibes and stuff like that.
