  1. Spade = shovel? haha just being a dick
  2. Why not just get another set of studio monitors? Much better than 12" or 15" on your desk. Trust, they will be a freakin handfull to balance up there they're gonna look shit as - just coz they are way too big. Unless you do mobile, and are planning to use them for that. In which case - this way saves you $$ by using the same set of speakers.
  3. Not happy with the information you got here mate? just joking, thought I recognised the name on DJF!
  4. you dont know the nz anthem. tsk tsk. Never find another you (ewe) - The Seekers
  5. The only times you really wanna run more than 1 set of speakers is if you are mixing and mastering, and want to check how your mix is responding on different reference speakers. Without buying anything else, you should just move one of the monitors to the left of where your laptop is, so when you are at your laptop, there is one monitor either side of you at equal distance from you.
  6. ^^ Good work. Best way to send the message out to anyone else thinking of fucking with yo' shit.
  7. AKG K171 Haven't used them much yet, still pretty new, but they are comfortable and seem to have good isolation. Removable & replacable cable (either straight or curly) is really good - means I can have a spare in the bag, and the 6.5mm adapter screws on - so I don't lose it! Seemingly nice flat response, but that's only from general observations rather than going out of my way to test and compare.
  8. Let's follow on here: http://www.ausdjforums.com/modules.php? ... 6594#66594 And haha first joke listed!
  9. Yeah, how can you tell if the drummer's riser is level? The drool is coming out of both corners of his mouth.
  10. Yeah it did, it answered "yes, I have"

  12. If you set the strobes speed manually you can get them to match each other, and just turn them on at the same time. Even with DMX you will still find it hard to get them all working as one - some careful programming needed. Master/slave if they do that will work though.
  13. What have you got so far? What kind of gigs do you find yourself doing most?
  14. Bunnings sell them
  15. No problem, always happy to help. Was also gonna say, after checking out photos from other albums on that site, I would be having a chat with the dude / dudette in charge of the boat venue thingy (feels weird to call it a venue?) before you go much further. See what kind of limitations they have in terms of weight, power, area for you to fit in, aesthetics (they can get pretty particular). Particularly power - if they are tight with it, you might not be able to do subs, and may need LED lights only. Just some more thoughts for ya
  16. That should be fine for 300 in that kind space - pretty enclosed and all glass will mean it will be a very live room, very noisy because there are no walls to absorb the sound. You'll be relying on the people themselves to soak up a bit of the sound. Cluster the subs together to give them a bit more output, and get your tops up around head height.
  17. Surround your setup with pedo bear? Try and use the room to your advantage, put yourself in a corner so you only have to worry about the front. You could get a facade that stops anyone being able to reach your table, and also it makes your shit look better being covered up.
  18. Yeah exactly, fake-hazer (fazer)
  19. 2 litres? Shit man. You should look at getting a hazer. I used on just the other week on a show that ran for 3 weeks - it kept the room hazed up perfectly the entire night, and it wouldn't have used 10% of the tank. That would have been 11 nights running, including the first few days when I was setting up and fanging it More expensive than a smoke machine yes, but damn it is so much better and cheaper in the long run!
  20. That is a schweeeet curtain! Where did you get it from?
  21. Was gonna say, how about something like thus: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Metal-Speaker-St ... 41586b025b
  22. Yeah... they have SOME alright stuff, but most of it (in my opinion) is crap. You need to pick what you want to get. For example, I bought pinspots and my Hercules RMX from there - simply because I knew what I was buying, and you can't hardly stuff a pinspot up (I had checked it out first though). But I wouldn't trust their speakers or lighting effects. Then again, I like my stuff to be very flexible as I work both as a DJ and in theatre lighting. Depends what you want. If you want to spend as little as possible to get some kind of a result, sure. But don't be too hurt when it doesn't live up to your expectations - you get what you pay for.
  23. Somewhere over the rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
