Ok, from your audio 8 sound card plug the RCA labelled "Mixer Line In" into "Line" on the back of your mixer and make sure the little switch on the back is in the "Line" position. Than plug the other RCA from the sound card labelled "Mixer TT/CD"(i think it is) into the phone section. Now you will use your Line for Traktor and Timecode setup, and then if you want to use CD's without Traktor you just flick the switch on the back to phono and it will work normally.

Beep sound is the noise from your time code cd. What kind of mixer are you using? On my DJM400 it has a toggle switch on the top, when its on CD it plays whats going through Trakor, when its on Phono its plays the beep noise from timecode. It wont be playing because you need to calibrate your timecode cds in the Traktor software. When Traktor starts and it ask's you Buy,Demo,Activate you need to select active and go through the process and enter the serial number off your Traktor Scratch Pro box.

15inch I believe, I have the same ones and they are not too bad. They are no JBL's but good quality for what you pay.

I just watched this on you tube which explained a few of the changes with the new version of Traktor. Those new wave forms look pretty funky.

Dude, just save for a few more weeks and get some decent headphones. They are one of the most important things in a DJ's kit so its worth buying good quality the first time. You can either go through 2 sets of $90 headphones in under a year or get a decent pair of Allen and Heath XD53's that will last a hell of a lot longer and out perform most headphones on the market today.

I'm pretty sure thats how it works Gandy. I know if you have Traktor pro you can upgrade to TSP via Native Instruments website. Once you guys have done the upgrade could you let us know if you think it is worth it. Cheers

I'm pretty sure most stores sold out when they went 50% off, but the occasional one still pops up on ebay and gumtree.

You will still need the external sound card even if your mixer has one built it. And most people use the X1 for the midi control not the effects. The X1 makes browsing your laptop and choosing songs easier than reaching up to your laptop track pad or mouse. As for the mixers effects apposed to the X1, the X1 gives you more control over the effects parameters like how wet or dry they are. Too me it looks like you are confusing yourself too much, by deciding weather you want a controller, cdj's, turntables, mixer, software etc all in one go. First of all you need to decide which way you want to go with your DJ'ing. Controller: Pick the one you want, use the software it comes with and your set to go. Or pick what cdj/turntable and mixer set up you want and than once you have that decide if you want to use time codes. If you do than just buy either a Traktor or Serato package and it will come with everything you need and than your away.
