  1. pioneer sure are throwing out a lot of new products. guess all the guys who used to make the nice tv's have found a new hobby
  2. in very general terms, straight arm holds the groove better but wears your records more and doesn't sound as good. but with a bit of attention to setup there's not much in it either way. and an awful lot of turntablists get by just fine on 1200's so really not a big deal
  3. most of them on a 4*2 ikea expedit. can't be beaten for the price, especially when you can fit decks and a mixer perfectly too, though needs feet to prevent a sort back
  4. 3 decks would be a nightmare. Assuming deck was audible, or not just cued, what happens to the pitch when you move to it? Deck A at +3 swap to deck B control, it jumps straight to +3% too? Even if it had soft takeover function figuring which deck needed adjustment, switching to ut, re pitching from scratch as the slider was set for another deck. Beat sync on decks 3 & 4 would be much more practical
  5. Most people disagree, but I love the sound of a screaming 2 stroke bike
  6. a turntable is a pretty simple device, it just has to spin at the right speed, have enough torque to work with and that's about it. technics had a patent on the motor design so for 25 years no-one else could make anything really clse. that patent expired about 10 years ago so you've seen plenty of very competant options come on to the market. don't rule out vestax, AA, stanton etc. techs had their reputation for being bullet proof. there's heaps of 20+ year old examples still running fine. Mine are about 8 years since I got them, no idea how old they are as I got them from cash converters, but they looked old even then. I got them serviced once in that time, only because one dropped offa table whilst plugged in and pulled one rca cable out. if not for that they'd probably not need it. keep in mind decks in a club go through 8-10 hours a few times a week of really shitty treatment, so they will need more care.
  7. dont even bother with belt drives for dj'ing.
  8. just jumped through the video, can already see that space effect being abused for years to come.
  9. I just found my old cue tucked away in a cupboard this week. I used to spend so much of my uni life playing, but haven't been near a table in years. I noticed now that pool halls are starting to open up again in the city, great way to catch up with friends
  10. I know back in the day 2 of them made a good set of stumps fo street cricket
  11. new thread calling for volunteers? then a random selection?
  12. it can do your head in when it's a button you never use so don;t think to check. I let my kid press all the pretty lights and stuff on my mixer, took ages to find everything and switch back to normal
  13. you could have linked it to the new trailer with James zabiela for the pio nexus. doesn';t show you the actual product in the video so would have tied in well
  14. i guess for $80 I'll still buy it, if only becuase they'll stop any support or upgrade path on TSP, and cos the price will go up in a short while, or the AU$ will go down
  15. so you mean I have to wait for TSP3 that'll do the auto-running man for me?
  16. i've read it and still find it hard to see what real benefits it offers .4 new effetcs, but none of them were the isolators I wanted. coloured wave forms, i guess they look a little more pretty
  17. seems like a good idea, and not hard to do. one mix of the month would certainly get more notice than individual mixes in the different genre forums
  18. I was going to say it was either a set of scales for drug dealers, or a portable hot plate for when you are living ina caravan
  19. places like officeworks and HT have 1Tb drives for about $75. at that price you'd be silly not to get a backup drive, all your work, photos, music collection has got to be worth an extra $75
  20. this doesn't involve you working as a marine biologist and using western union does it?
  21. still trying to change the tone arm rest on one of these. there msut be some special right angeld but very very small screwdriver to get underneath to undo it
  22. I'll take 43, do you take western union?
  23. yep, yasi really destroyed the pocket lint crop
  24. does the 22 let you assign each channel to the filter? it does sound like the filter is jammed fully optn though. what happens if you change it, eg from high pass to low pass? if it's the dial that is not working it should give all sound in high pass if nothing in low pass
  25. he's made it clear he won't sell for any less than 3 hats, some shoes and a coat
