  1. finally put setup together in the new house. got some second hand truths, new desk (built to purpose dj furniture makes life so much easier) and new mixer (xone 4d). just buying ableton now, and then need to find time to play.
  2. webcam and audio - it's what faderwave uses. really they just have one account and the dj's take turns in using it, so we can always know to go to one place, rather than different addresses for every dj.
  3. why not look at stickam, just like faderwave. free and uses their bandwidth.
  4. maybe we should have stickam channel from the aus forums? though i listen mostly whilst I'm working, so the US time works out well.
  5. most of the are live shows. go to stickam.com, you can seutp your own broadcast there. basically you stream to that site and it re-distributes, rather than you having to stream 10 * if 10 people are tuned in. of course if you do it on your own stickam account, you have to find your own audience, so faderwave and the like are already known by people. listen to the shows and see if you think you're up to that level. some of them are great, some not so great, but it's still a good way to learn
  6. anyone playing on internet stations? as soon as Iget my gear unpakced again i think i'd like to do a regular slot.
  7. I got djdecks for about 38 euroes. Bought my own soundcard and TCV's, all up less than $300. since then the package got bought out and sells also under some other name (PC dex i think) and costs alot more. I've tried serato and was pretty underwhelmed by what it offers for the price. best part is the regular updates and direct access to the guy who writes the package.

    New amp

I just picked up a pair of behringer truth monitors. They were the older model (2031, not 2031A). Just moved house so no longer have the decks in the same room as my stereo, but these monitors are pretty good, and for the price incredible. $200 off ebay, cannot complain about that. even though monitors are not meant for parties, these could easily handle house party duties. now just to sort out a new desk for all the gear, then to order that xone 4d
  9. is it truly a line-in or a mic in? both the mixer and the tape out on an amp will beline level sources, and it's unlikely adding a step inthe chain will improve things, unless the problem is your second output from the mixer. then recording from the main out via the amp may be better. sound forge isn't free though, audacity is and it's a very neat package.

    New amp

that's a bit vague, that link shows monitors, PA's, amps. is this for home or events? powered, passive?
  11. done som every long after party sets, 10+ hours. generally only preperation was enough beer and other things to keep going. and a lot of records.
  12. the curve of the rotary isnt the best, if they got that right it'd be a great mixer instead of just good. Still the linear faders have the same issue and i find them too short. best bit is I can swap between the two in under 10 minutes
  13. started with tt's then got a dual deck (Cmx3000), then found djdecks so could get back into vinyl at a reasonable price, then got good price on the cdj's so upgraded them. funny how I go through phases of playing TCV and hating cdj's, then will play for a few months on cdj only. can honestly say I cannot decide which is better
  14. I've had a kp2 for a while, lots of fun but really not something I use very often.
  15. currently in between houses so it's all in boxes 1200mk2's with nightclub e's. cdj800mk2's kp2 djm3000 with rotary kit u46dj w SSL TCV's. for sound, rotel rc1070 pre/rb1080 power amp and revel F12a speakers.
  16. with the price of drives these days, I'd recommend buying two of whatever you get, just in case. I keep two hard drives, plus the burnt cd's of all my tracks. Also have ripped to flac all my cd albums, I'd hate to have to go and rip everything again, and even if places like beatport let me re-download, that'd be a major hassle for several hundred tracks. Extra 150 for a spare 500Gb drive seems a small price for the insurance.
