  1. took me a while to catch on and figure the link was only on the home page, not on the toolbars on every page. must be the heat. no-ones playing now, any objection if I go on for an hour or so?
  2. DJ Name: tubby Style of music I spin: progressive house and trance Name of your show: ??? Times you are available: Wednesday 6-8pm, tues or thursday 12-2 Your label/promoter/bar/company: n/a Any extra details: nothing I can think of
  3. just ran my soundcard to my wife's computer (dual core 2.5ghz, 3Mb ram) and it runs at 10% cpu, mine was maxing at 100 doing the same thing. works great now though. if I aim for lunchtime shows tuesday or thursday, is anyone going to be able ot listen in? if not, probably aim 6-8 tuesday or wednesday
  4. will try loading the 2nd soundcard onto my wife's computer, i think most folks use different computer for DVS and streaming.
  5. not looking good. piece of shit computer work gave me cannot handle streaming. strange as it's the same model that it replaced, last week was playing traktor with 4 decks and streaming fine, this peice of shit cannot handle streaming alone, it's maxing out the processor time to tell them I'm cancelling all out of hours work until I get a decent computer, i'm happy for them to waste the time they pay me to be there, but ufcked if I'm wasting my time on them
  6. just noticed that the link on the left toolbar is no longer there. do we have a shortcut or send folks over to stickam.com/ausdjforums?
  7. i'm going to hop on a little after 12:30 and give this a go. if anyone's around can you sign in, even if only for a couple of minutes to check all is working and sound is ok?
  8. I'm going to work from home tomorrow, so will try this between about 12:30 and 2 again. I did it last week signed onto my own account, my friend said he got about 3 short drop-outs, I had to admit to him that was me trying to figure out what some of the traktor effects did.
  9. take look on the left side - can liste in there, just need to get hooked in to broadcast. I'll set up over the weekend some time and post to try and get folks to check it out and make sure it's working ok
  10. why? posted naked picutre of yourself? on a positive note this proves you don'thave any swear filter happening here, free speach for all!
  11. economic crisis = great time to buy at going out of business sales, so long as the job being lost isn't yours.

    radio

yep, 1 account many people with the password. just a little courtesy and respect to play when it's your turn. generally they have a schedule though when someone cannot make their slot or it's dead air, anyone hops on if they want not saying it's the only option, but a reasonably simple one and pretty much free too

    New laptop

i just bithced to our IT guys so they replaced my patched up 5 year old computer with another one, which by coincidence is the same computer my hard drive came from 4 years ago when that one died. we're on a serious money saving drive in this place, never mind that the consulting time I lose to laptop issues would pay for a new laptop in about 5 days.

you just right click anywhere on the flash sections and select setup. on the micrphone tab, select the input device, whatever soundcard is plugged to your mixer), and set the input level. you might also have to go to your volume control and setu the input device for recording. should work fine after that. can also set your webcam to inout video, pretty cool to be able to watch people mixing live. for some reason that's not working for me with the webcam plugged into the hub, which is strange cos the soundcard I'm recording on is on the same hub and that works ok

just finished up about 90 minutes playing, had a friend listening in from his place, said quality was pretty good, and no dropouts. might be worth a try - how about we setup an adjf account on stickam, and people can log in when no-ones playing and just start? so long as you can run your mixers out into a soundcard, you can use this setup. you can embed the stickam player on other pages, so you could go to adjf/radio for example and it'll stream there.
  18. Now i'm using traktor scrathc pro I guess I can add to this thread. it's a 4 channel DVS, with cd, vinyl, internal/midi control across all 4 channels. As a DVS alone, works fine, sounds good, not too sure what else to say about that side of things. Beat grids work like a very basic warping. It cannot warp an irregular track (though apparently this feature is coming in new point releases), rather it sets a starting point and the tempo. on 4/4 tracks it works perfectly about 75% of the time. Almost all other times it gets the tempo right but maps the grid much earlier in the beat so you get a slight off-set, very easily fixed though. With the beat grid the sync functions work perfectly, and it also gets used to sync time-based effects. The effects are a big seller. As well as filters per deck, you have two banks of effects. In advanced mode you have one effect per bank, with 3 parameters, plus wet/dry control on that effect. In chained mode, you have 3 effects per bank, but only one dial to control each effect. any channel can have none, one or both effect banks assigned, so the possibilities are huge. GUI, once you get used to it is actually ok. There's just so many options to start with that it can be annoying having to swap pages just to get anywhere. Now I've got a decent midi map, making decks smaller to see effects, swapping over to browse files etc is much easier. Midi-mapping, sounds hard to start with but actually pretty easy. Select from menus the function you want to map, press learn button and press the button, wiggle the dial that you want to assign. Add modifiers (like shift buttons) so it can handle more than one function. the downsides? mostly the cost. Only works with their soundcards or certified mixer if you want scratch control, if mixing via midi any soundcard with enough channels for you will work. I paid almost $600 without a soundcard, you'll probably pay over $1000 with their soundcard. Compared to torq which you can get on special for $400 if you look for it. It was also released very early, and has a lot of bugs. hopefully that will get sorted soon enough. All up pretty happy with it, especially when bugs get sorted. Being able to play off vinyl/cdj, and then add other tracks controlled via midi means I get the best of everything - can use internal syncing so layer /fx, or play hands on off tt.s

    dj course

qbert did some good dvd's, he shows a sratch, then pauses for you to try it, then he does it again and so on. not sure what it cost but seemed an ok place to start

    dj course

do that 3-5 times a week and watch your beer gut grow. wait, that's how I became tubby.
  22. there are some biug dj's who almost never beat match. Dave guetta comes to mind. not to mention fatboy slim, very average mixing, but still rocks a party better than anyone else. focus on beatmatching first and foremost though. only once you have that rock solid do you have time to work with effects, samples, loops etc. probably the best tool to improve is to record your mixes every time. you'll notice your errors more than most folks. Post them on line and ask for comments, as more experienced folks may notice stuff you do not(key clashes for example).

    dj course

best courses cost about $40. that's for a case of beer a few mates together, mix up randomly, try shit out and learn from eachother.

    UV Bulbs

I was just googling this exact thing. just normal bayonet light bulbs seem pretty common, used for snake keeping and the like. ebay, bunnings should have these. was hoping to find a cheap strip light but they seem to run $50 or so. want one to make my mixer glow in the dark

    LP Cases
