audacity is ok but takes ages. it works fast with wav then a long time to re-encode. Does it have a batch mode? would be ok if I could select 5 files then walk away instead of having to open one file, convert and save, 20 minutes later, repeat.

one thing that is underrated is to practice with no eq's or fx, it forces you to think more about how the tracks go together. and make sure you phrase match. onthe filter, I like to bring in the new track with the high pass filter on, as I start fading out the old track kill the filter on the new, so it slams in the beat

Wonder what use a non specific 4 channel sound card is. Won't work with serato or traktor unless there's something yet to be announced. And if for ableton you still need external controller a&h already have mixers that work with itch and traktor so this seems odd.

or if you know someone else with tracktor can you try plugging yoru audio8 into their computer? should work with their install if the unit is ok

d/w will only have an effect if you have one of the fx banks turned on and the channel is switched to that deck. also check you don't accidentally have one of the filters on for the channel or the panning.

I have to reinstall tonight, laptop just got upgraded to win7. I'll step through and see what ideas i come up with. mine might be slightly different as I have 4d rather than audio8, but it still thinks of it as an audio8 for the driver install

you said you followed the 1,2,6 install, but the install will go through a step asking if you have already insytalled the audio8 drivers. Did that step come up?
