  1. won't take long for it to re-appear. look at pirate bay, supposedly shut down but seems to operate just like before
  2. have you thought about selling just the cdj's or just the tt's? I know the first few years paying a mrtogage suck, so having a relatively cheap hobby at home (after you buy the gear), or way to relax and have fun without going out can really help
  3. Almost exactly tbd same as Stanton st150's. Very solid decks and I preferred them to my technics when I used a friends setup. Cannot comment on the longevity tho
  4. at least traktor lets you have 2 licneces. will update the install on my wife';s computer while I wqork this crap out. who would have thought vista would be ok and win7 crap for things like this
  5. it's the smae version of traktor, but obviously drivers have changed for the device (64 vs 32bit etc). all the setup for controllers is different now too, I haven't doine anything ecept minor control tweaks in about 4 traktor releases so not had to try to setup all over again. going to ask my it guy at work if he has the old laptops he's about to chuck out. one of them for nothing but music must be easier than this.
  6. trying to get everythign re-installed after laptop was upgraded to win7. re-installed traktor and 4d drivers, imported my saved TSI file. Traktor recognises the 4d as an audio device but doesn't do anything on midi. Even if the mapping was wrong it should flash when a control message is received. I loaded a track to a deck and tried playing with the mouse, nothing happens, so it seems traktor is messed up. I uninstalled, downloaded again and same thing. I can load decks but they will not play at all. Any ideas folks? Probably something simple and I'm just missing it
  7. I always write trakcs artist - track name (remix). not too fussed if others do it different, but helps when I am searching my own cd folder or files
  8. swapping now between podcasts, jay and silent bob get old and adam corolla show. both basically guys in mid 30's shooting the breeze.
  9. American audios regularly sell for around $100 on ebay, just have to be a bit patient. I recently missed one that went for $52.50, only thing it claimed was wrong was a broken target light
  10. are we sure it's not just banned cos it's crap?
  11. just read somewhere that TS certification is likely to come soon, in which case the mixer makes much more sense. not at that price though
  12. the solar sessions getting a play now.
  13. is there any cdj apart from the sldz that you could call pretty? impressive and useful sure, but they are not nice to look at devices. compare the simplicity of, say 2 tt's and a bozak, now that's pretty
  14. parody, parity, close enough a long long time ago you used to get US1.25 for every aussie peso.
  15. I used to use waxdj.com. free only lets you have 200mb up and no direct links, you have to go to the pages and download, but simple and free.
  16. sounds dumb at a gig but I've done that during house parties.
  17. you were playing the wild dogs mix of that track?
  18. i'm trying to figure out just what it's meant to hold
  19. on the original topic, cdj's take a little getting used to but once you've learnt you will be fine playing tt's at home and cdj's out. a lot of clubs with tt's have them way out to the side past 2cdj's, so it's not great to play on. And if you are still trying to break into the clubs they aren't going to hire in tt's or want to move the setup about to suit you.
  20. he was always smashed when on stage, never stopped him rocking the crowd before
  21. wasn't there but fat boy slim had his serato screw up at one sydney festival and he could only get one deck working, so was one track, stop, another track, stop. he never figured out about internal modes
  22. I've read that about not being able to use sync lock to keep internal tracks aligned with a timecode deck, but never had that be an issue. mixing on decks b & c on timecode vinyl, I can loop internally on A or another track on D, they stay sync'd just find to the master deck that's on time code. From what I have read it's supposed to sync to the master deck at the instant you hit sync or start the internal deck, but it doesn't keep rechecking as the time code deck varies slightly, but I've never had to go out of time on me.
  23. tried looking o/s? probably be a fraction of the price from germany or US now
  24. serato is well known to be easy on computer power. not that you need a great machine by current standards for traktor, but if your laptop is 3+ years old it might be an issue. traktor seems stable enough now, they had some pretty poor bugs in the very first releases to be honest the only time I spoent much time on serato was a friends wedding, we took over bar at a resort in fiji for a week so spent many hours on it. Stable, simple but nothing great. I had my $30 dvs software that I thought was much better. but if all you want is vinyl emulation and stability it does the job.
  25. just found the receipt from putting money on a US$ credit card for holiday in june - we only got 82 centrs to the dollar. Still got about $1000 left on it so looks like will lose $200 converting back. should have blown it all in vegas instead
