  1. it must be the manufacturers optional upgrade market they are chasing. B&O, mcintoch, mark levinson all do large volumes by attaching themselves to large volume car makers and getting people to pay for it. Bose does this as well yet their premium car audio is absolute tripe
  2. I had pioneer dj-3500 tt's for a while. they also sold the same thing with echo branding on them, but pioneer never made them. they were an OEM type product, the same as a low end AA or audio technica product. They were ok as a low end tt and had very little torque funny when I got a bargain on my technics someone on ebay paid more for the pioneers.
  3. That's the next generation of the monitors I bought, mwave is the place I got officeworks to price match +5% too
  4. i used static ice to find best price, then took taht to office works and took them up on the beat it by 5% policy. so $320 for the extra 2 monitors, benq GL2440HD
  5. went over to NI today to look at what upgrades from TSP cost. They only list traktor 2 software or the full traktor scratch 2.5 package, including CD's and vinyl. In their forums they rant about it traktor being a full package including the hardware, which comletely misses the question of whether this stuff works with older interfaces. Has anyone bought a software only update for scratch recently
  6. I bought a pair of AA htd4.5s (basically a stanton ST150) as i wanted a 3rd deck. one has a bent tone arm. it plays ok but i don't think i'd want to trust it on a real record, timecode is replaceable. it's sat idle in my room for 18 months now, I doubt I'd ever need 4 decks. so - sell as is? it's about US$75 for a new tone arm plus fitting. upgrade and use as a listening tt? anyone here want a $100 tt to take on as a project?
  7. matt rowan at some crappy place on oxford street. went to see chris fortier who was woeful. 4am matt stepped on to close, the place was packed at 6am when he finished. dave seaman at space. got tickets well before but decided we didnt want to go, tried to sell them but no luck so went for a little while. not necessarily huge tunes but a lesson in the art of dj'ing. anytime interest started to drop he drew us back in. At the end of the set, went quiet and he started a very slow baby scratch, nothing at all really. but just kept going, and had the room on tenterhooks waiting to see where this was going. dropped into something banging, went for another 30 minutes. sasha at the forum 18 months ago. again not huge tunes but perfect set flow and track selection
  8. like the 1000, was mostly out there to have a big showy model at the top, was never going to be a big seller.
  9. there was a 62 for sale on itm this week for $300, can't believe that's what they go for. I love the old industrial look of them compared to the new flashing light models
  10. anove an beyond's trance around the world. Blake Jarrell concentrate (trance, prog mix). Gareth emery. Big fan of jaytech's podcast but only once a month
  11. Love it. Great sound, awesome filters and all tthe buttons, sliders, knobs you need for traktor. Run 4 time code decks and never need to touch the computer. Can't think of anything id update on it if only traktor hd a decent isolator effect
  12. got one at home and paid about double that, but well worth it, and at that price hope someone jumped on it
  13. I mostly use traktor as just a timecode system now, but will prbably upgrade whilst it's on offer. Anyone know whether maps from traktor por 1 work in 2? I'd hate to have to map from scracth again. Also, what's it like on cpu? I'm running on a pretty basic laptop that does nothing else. Got it free from work when they upgraded, which gives you an idea how basic it is.
  14. you sure they aren't normal 3.5mm cables? you did have the fader start switched on?
  15. do yo uthink rane make more from their own mixers or from licencing serato to other manufacturers? the rane mixers realy are pretty niche even within dj's.
  16. Wonder how far back it was ppl were saying that clubs would not upgrade to the 2000's as they had mk3's in place. Most clubs will havethem on a lease agreement anyway
  17. i think they want the opposite of master tempo = to be able to change the pitch to anything they want completely indepedant of the speed. Chipmunks at +0%
  18. Like the alpha deck on past demons? Two outputs and two lasers. Touch screen for sure, good chance of some form of wifi connection
  19. Flac is still 2/3 the size of a cd, so isnt suitable for portability. I use freerip both to rip my cd collection to flac, and then convert the flac to mp3 when I want it on the iphone. Free, simple, fast enough and does all I want .
  20. but is it the even rarer albino version?
  21. it's the pace of change that gets people. perfectly good gear is now considered obsolete, and worth a fraction of what you paidif you try to upgrade. how long was it from djm500-djm600? and then it was many years to the 800, they indtroduced models that did not directly compete in that time (707, 3000).
  22. as the recieer there's not even anything you can do to chase aus post, the sender is the customer, not you. and as for registered, that might help track it but it's still not as good as insurance. especially for delicate electronics in a mass delivery system. for the value of that gear I would have spent the extract on a courier with insurance
  23. I had those pioneer tt's for a couple of years. As a low end TT they are ok but very little toqrue, you have to be very gentle with the platter. pitch wisethough they hold ok. I would really suggets holding out for a decent tt though. I've got all of mine about half the going rate as I was in no rush, ahppy with my gear but then I spottefd an upgrade at a better price. I actually sold a pair of those pioneer tt's for $200 more than the techincs cost that I replaced them with. If you have any cash converters/pawn shop you walk past, have a look at what they have. Often they don't know the true value of models apart from technics (sometimes not even them), you might find the super oem models in there for $100-200. AA HTD4.5, citronicpd-45, can't recall all the others, basically the same as the ST150's. patiecne is the key
  24. let's bring djdennis in as a consultant on the matter /hides
  25. I'd suggest selling, but set a good reserve so you're not just giving them away. reason - it might only be 3-4K on top of hundreds of thousands, but it'll be years before you get to paying off that last few thousand and it'll be racking up interest that whole time. And if it can make the diffference between a 20% deposit or not (even with help from family) the saving in mortgage insurance can be several thousand dollars.
