  1. Depends, sometimes we put it on bookshelves, sometimes we turn it upside down so the handle angles it up and put it on the floor so it's pointing against the wall. it's a dodgy asian ebay one too, and we haven't had any trouble with it. It does a good job, sometimes the laser is too bright haha My gf bought me the laser and a smoke machine and they turned out to both be stage/club sized ones lol
  2. hey mate, I only listened to this at work on crappy laptop speakers pretty low, but the mixing seemed alright. The only thing I would say is try a bit more variety in your mix other than just Deadmau5. I understand this is probably your first mix though, so all good. Also, I probably would have mixed the songs closer together so you don't have too long of just the bass beat inbetween the outro and intro of the next song. This comes with experience though, and getting the next song ready and beat matched earlier. Anyway from what I could hear, you are on the right track, keep doing what you are doing and practice practice pactice. It all falls into place.
  3. no worries mate
  4. well if you are going to sell the roadcase with the mixer etc. in the future, I think you've answered your own question
  5. We have a big double laser that we put in our back room for parties, usually we put it so it makes patterns on the wall because it's too bright to point it at people, but only because it was annoying to have it in our face lol we haven't burnt anyones eyes out....yet...
  6. if you are planning to upgrade eventually you might as well. I doubt the case will wear out, and you can just pack around your mixer for now.
  7. sorry mate, didn't end up getting on last night. Is it still open?
  8. as far as I know, you have to either use the traktor sound card, or a certified mixer

  22. I'm with Jaz, seems to be a lot less dj related talk. Maybe more reviews etc.?
  23. welcome mate. There are a few of us from Sydney. Good to see you here
  24. hmmm I don't go with this lol I think it is more like controllers now are CDJ's+more , but if you are wanting to move into clubs, I think CDJ's are the way to go. This is mainly due to 1. Clubs all have cdjs there already 2. Controllers still have a stigma to some degree. If you want to go down the cdj path, you don't have to get pioneer. From what I have read/heard, the Reloop RMP-3's are right up there, and not going to set you back anywhere near what new Pioneer cdj2000/900's will cost. If you choose these, you'll still be able to transition into a club with pioneer gear easily because it is all basically the same. On the other hand, you can always look into second hand gear which you can sometimes get some really good deals on. If you want to have the benefits of both, you can get some cdj's with Serato time code, then you can use the cdjs with your computer. theeeeen if you want to just muck around at home and play for mates/parties for now, the best option would be a controller. TBH I don't think the pioneer DDJ-S1 is the best value for money atm (unless maybe you went for the T1). I think you would be better off looking into a Traktor Kontrol S4 or Denon DN-MC6000. These seem to be the most value for money at the moment, granted I haven't had a look for a little while so someone else might have a better current suggestion.
