i rekon cameron should start djing with a mau5 head thats been ripped apart ha ha
-
ok ill throw my two cents in the mau5 makes millions of bucks, cameron is a small time dj compared to the mau5, the mau5 was never a dj to start with but took his show to the road so he has no idea how hard it is to get anywhere as a dj in this saturated market. Big deal so this guy dropped some wicked tracks, the only thing i say is dont drop any mau5 tracks or anything off his label anything else is fair game. If the mau5 is so great this was the perfect challenge to take it to another level, just goes to show even the best of them sometimes has their limitations on creativity, meaning he might just have his one style and show and cant adapt on the fly and that why he maybe got pissed off. Instead of tweeting saying this guy djing has just made me look average props he pullls out that shit. totally unprofessional and totally insecure as a person, if i was that cameron dude i would have kicked the whales teeth in for stopping the afterparty and making a rukus over nothing simple spoilt little kid in a mans body grow up u fukin wanker and take some tips from the old skool performers and dj out there vath, levin, knuckles, cheers

since i used to do alot of practice at night at home, it was the norm for me to monitor with headphones, so having a monitor issues doesnt really phase me, That's great news mate! You'd be surprised by how many DJs, especially ones on the club circuit, go to absolute shit the minute there is an issue with their monitors. It's a great skill to have and definitely something I think all DJs should know how to do if they intend on playing out. I remember seeing green velvet a few yrs back at field day when i first started djing and observed what he did, he did not take his headphones off once through the whole set, and his set was perfect. and his levels where right and so on. think that pisses me off now is the fact i wear glasses now and after a while the HD25's make it uncomfortable, yeh i know i should start wearing contacts!!!

the way i learnt is two identical songs on two cds, cover your bpm counters if u have them play the first one with the pitch out, put the pitch out on the other one in the other direction or random and try not to pay attention to where the pitch is positioned. play the first song and drop the next one then adjust the platter till the beats line up and nudge to keep in time and adjust the pitch as necessary. the result will be, you will learn to focus on the song rather than looking at the beat counters and do it with ur eyes closed hope this helps

yeh i tend not to under sell as well, esp if our supplying gear, im doin a gig soon at mates rates which means he pays for my flights to syd, and i dj also with a mate of mine and he is getting paid a basic rate for his efforts and the guys im doing this for are paying for the gear hire and setup. best arrangement i rock up with my cds play my shit and finish, i can tell u ur gonna hate packing up after 7hrs dude, i used to fuken spew, you will be drained after it, well i usally am after a stint longer than 2 hours maybe i concentrate too hard lol!
-
their set at field day fukin dissappointing! thats my two cents lol
-
dude these sets are really good, keep a keen eye out on the crowd, and play to them, because your there for so long you will pick up on so much, just observe, most people arent too fussed about how good you mix at parties like that but what tracks you play, you keep them engaged they will forgive you for a few slip ups. you have seven hours make it a educational seven hours Every gig you will learn something new, you can practice as much as you want in the bedroom but there is nothing like playin to a crowd, soon as you get happy faces and people lovin ur tracks no better feeling ha ha

cdj's at home and at gigs and run ableton as well to trigger loops and samples so where does that fit in?
-
got a pair, awesome for wat they are, got an awesome price for mine, the functionality is really good, for the price you really struggle to find anything better, the platter is pretty good in imo, and jumping to other pioneer models has been easy, the difference in platters doesnt matter in imo, u just get used to them with in 10s of using them. oh and at JBL they get a thrashing, plus its not the best place to get good prices on dj gear.

This is with out a doubt the best dj forum on the internets

too true, keep up the good work guys, I'm first to say most topics do get trainwrecked but we do try to address the issues first than fuk the post up sideways seriously best place to get answers and constructive criticism my biggest pet hate is "sick WHALE dj's" with attitudes they deserve a screwdriver to the eye -
i dont have platinum notes but use mixed in key, makes for some kool sets imo and opens you to the possibility of mixing songs u somtimes would think just didnt go.
-
ah got the same set up and its quite scary to see ur shit almost fall of the stand so thats why i use two piano stands now lol
