i will be in syd from the 17th of july to the 25th so if it around then lets do it! give my SL4 a run
-
depends how much i sample tend to draw out songs abit longer than usually if im dropping sample, acappellas over the top. Found most people who arent avid music listeners can only hack about 3 mins of a track, people who love a certain genre are more forgiving and tend to like longer mixes, find it a juggling act between the two

umm i think a few months

i got an efx 1000 collecting dust (got it for a steal brand new for 600 bucks ha ha) u get over effects fast use it now as a midi controller wit ableton lol -
tip is hoddi use your headphones as much as you can if you get used to mixing with your headphones and not your speakers and recording ur mixes it a better way to go imo, you get alot of delays in clubs, some clubs dont have monitors so having this skill is good i do all of my mixing with my headphones even wen i gig sometimes give my ears a rest wen a gig out and use the monitor
-
niki bellucci prime example, but she actually knows how to mix hoddi check her out saw her live last yr at aquarius zrce awesome rack lol!

I tend to eq every thing in, usally get it beatmatched and all that shitz, then on track B (the one im bringing i) and ill bring in the element of the song that blends the best more abruptly, so if your mids melt well, then i Bring them in at 90% volume of the current track playin slide the volume all the way up and slowly turn up the low and highs while turning the volumes down on the out going track then you can bring elements in and out of each track, so basic eq' ing alot of combinations you can do im not a fan of using effects or filters cause yoy get lazy and mix tracks that dont go too well together and rely on the effects or tricks to disguise the transition im a big fan of layering transitions so you dont know where the last song ended and when the new one starts. started to use phrasing where you count beats or identify a new part of a song line the next song up at the same stage so melodically it sounds (hard to explain but google phrasing and ull understand wat i mean)

tech house, deep and jungle anything that u can picture yourself on the beach sinking drinks in the sunshine all about really nice beats, good vocals and not too much over the top synth stylin but if i feel like mixin a club set prog house and big room bangers!

cause serato is kooler! lol seriously but even serato compared to traktor is way more expensive but some how i like the layout of serato and itch better than TSP and traktor

dim is right there lately my sets cross alot of different genre's last set i did at a mates party i started with chill out tracks at 1oobpm and disco tracks and finished at 130 bpm playin progressive tracks and wat not. a few yrs back id play just one or two genre's now i like building my sets according to the crowds mood. oh and i dont think i played one cheezey track there was some serious old skool classics in there -
Why DJs should play vinyl and not use computers
Ravni replied to johnyboy's topic in DJ Headquarters
Amen brother one club i do reccomend is civic underground in syd for sound i rekons its one of the best in syd always seems to sound good probably suits the stuff they play there what do they mainly play there? deep house and somtimes indie sort of stuff, saw tensnakee there for a feild day side show, tech house and that type of tracks seem to sound really good there
