hehe, as much as i would like to see him go the cdj route, he might simply be in it for some bedroom banging and a couple of house parties, and tbh, controller would be the best option if thats the case imo, hes comin over sometime soon for a big chat that ill ask him what he wants out of it and where he wants to take it, plus it will let him have a bash on my gear to try the cdjs. My goal is to present the two options with an even amount of pros and cons, find out what he wants from it and at the end of the day let him choose which route he wants to take. No point pushing something that might not suit his needs just because im bias to cdjs, then find out hes not enjoying it which at the end of the day, is why we all do it, cause we love it. also +rep awesome for the controller feedback edit: i know i act like a total twat whenever the cdj vs controller topic comes up, but you guys know what your talking about, it would be totally unfair to brainwash/trash talk controllers to someone who is completly fresh/new to the scene, and i feel like i would be doing a dis-service to the world of djing by doing that

so, got a good mate whos keen as mustard to get into djing, and i want to do the right thing and give him a completely neutral/non-bias advice on what gear options are avaiable Ive already got the pros/cons for the traditional setup of 2 decks and a mixer, but can the controller fiends please list the pros/cons here so i can let him know about that option as well. who knows, i might be able to sell my stuff to him for a good deal and upgrade my kit. good thing about hd 25s is that all the parts are replaceable i think im too used to my cans, tried a mates 25s on and it felt like a praying mantis was crawling over my head lol

ive used rentals alot when djing for private functions outside of my hometown, there fine, most of the time ppl take okish care of it because if they do trash it they have to pay full price for it just like buying a demo car from car yards really

i have a couple mates with s4's and they absolutley love it. Wouldnt worry about the processing power of the macbook pro, as long as you get the latest one it will be fine, the specs may not seem as good as laptop with windows but osx runs totally diff to w7 i bought mine last year and it still goes hard when i used to have traktor running plus multiple other things running at the same time i say go for it
